Role Description The Medical Interpreter English / Italian is a full-time remote role responsible for facilitating clear, accurate communication between English- and Italian-speaking patients and healthcare professionals. Day-to-day tasks include providing real-time interpretation during medical appointments, consultations, and follow-up calls, ensuring that medical information, instructions, diagnoses, and consent forms are conveyed faithfully and respectfully. The role involves applying specialized medical terminology, maintaining strict confidentiality, and adhering to professional ethical standards. The interpreter may also support written translation of simple medical documents, patient information materials, and forms when needed. Collaboration with care teams, participation in quality assurance processes, and ongoing professional development in medical language and cultural competence are key aspects of this position. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Medical Terminology skills to accurately convey clinical information between English and Italian. Candidates should possess Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation skills to manage real-time conversations in fast-paced medical settings. Candidates should possess Translation skills for supporting written patient materials and basic medical documents in English and Italian. Native or near-native proficiency in both English and Italian, with clear, professional communication style. Prior experience in medical or healthcare interpreting, or relevant training in community or clinical interpretation. Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA or equivalent), and patient-centered communication practices. Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, including reliable internet connection and familiarity with virtual communication platforms. Relevant certification in medical or healthcare interpreting and/or a degree in languages, translation, interpretation, or a related field is preferred.
