Job Summary We are seeking a Scrum Master with a strong technical background to take full ownership of delivery execution, day-to-day team monitoring, and risk management across our engineering teams. While the role applies Scrum and Agile practices, its primary mandate is to ensure that committed work is delivered on time, with high quality, and with complete visibility for leadership. The Scrum Master is accountable for the health and predictability of delivery. They monitor the team closely on a daily basis, drive disciplined follow-up on every commitment, and continuously assess and mitigate risks before they impact the plan. They also own the operational side of our KPI framework — collecting, tracking, and reporting the engineering KPIs that leadership relies on to steer the business. The ideal candidate combines hands-on Agile delivery experience with a solid software engineering background, giving them the technical credibility to challenge estimates, identify risks early, and engage engineers in meaningful problem-solving conversations. This is a high-ownership role for someone who treats delivery commitments as personal commitments and operates with a relentless, data-driven, no-surprises mindset. Key Responsibilities1. Delivery Ownership & Execution· Own end-to-end delivery execution for assigned teams — from sprint planning and refinement through release and stabilization.· Define, maintain, and protect delivery plans, sprint goals, milestones, and release timelines.· Ensure committed work is delivered on time, within scope, and to the agreed quality bar.· Drive a disciplined delivery cadence: standups, mid-sprint check-ins, progress reviews, and end-of-sprint demos.· Enforce no-surprise delivery — early visibility on any slippage and a clear recovery plan whenever the plan is at risk.2. Close Team Monitoring & Follow-Up· Monitor team progress on a daily basis: every task, story, bug, and dependency is tracked in real time.· Proactively chase updates rather than waiting for them — confirm status, unblock owners, and close open loops daily.· Maintain rigorous board hygiene across Azure Dev Ops / Jira: accurate status, estimates, owners, and remaining work.· Conduct regular delivery health checks at the team and individual level, and surface deviations from plan immediately.· Ensure no task, decision, or blocker is left without an owner, due date, and follow-up plan.3. Risk Management & Proactive Issue Resolution· Identify delivery, technical, and dependency risks early — before they become blockers — and lead structured mitigation.· Maintain a live risk register with clear owners, probability, impact, and mitigation actions for every identified risk.· Coordinate cross-team dependencies and integration points; resolve handoff and alignment issues before they affect delivery.· Lead incident response coordination for production issues and ensure blameless post-mortems result in concrete actions.· Continuously reassess scope, capacity, and risk; recommend trade-offs and escalations to leadership in a timely manner.4. KPI Monitoring, Reporting & Transparency· Own day-to-day collection, tracking, and validation of engineering and delivery KPIs (velocity, sprint predictability, cycle time, throughput, defect leakage, on-time delivery, and quality metrics).· Build and maintain Agile and delivery dashboards in Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or equivalent tools to give leadership real-time visibility.· Produce clear, concise weekly and monthly delivery reports highlighting status, KPIs, risks, blockers, and required decisions.· Translate raw metrics into actionable insights — identify patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities, then drive corrective action.· Support leadership in defining, refining, and rolling out new KPIs and performance frameworks as the organization evolves.5. Scrum Facilitation & Agile Discipline· Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies — Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives — with a strong focus on outcomes, not ceremony for its own sake.· Coach the team on Agile principles, lean engineering practices, and disciplined sprint execution.· Partner with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy, well-refined backlog and well-defined sprint goals.· Protect the team from mid-sprint disruptions, scope creep, and unmanaged context switching.· Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives that produce concrete, tracked, and measurable actions.6. Team Performance & Accountability· Set clear expectations on ownership, follow-up, and quality across the Scrum team.· Monitor individual contribution and engagement; flag performance concerns early and partner with engineering leadership on action plans.· Foster a high-ownership, no-excuses, outcome-driven culture grounded in transparency and trust.· Mediate conflicts within the team and escalate constructively when team-level resolution is not possible.· Champion engineering excellence, technical quality, and sustainable pace alongside delivery pressure. Job Requirements Experience· 5+ years of experience in software delivery, with at least 3 years in a Scrum Master, Agile delivery lead, or technical delivery role.· Prior background in software engineering — minimum 2–3 years of hands-on technical experience before transitioning into Agile delivery.· Proven track record of owning end-to-end delivery for complex software products in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.· Demonstrated experience in close team monitoring, risk management, and structured delivery reporting to leadership.· Hands-on experience operating engineering KPI frameworks and producing executive-level reporting.· Experience scaling Agile across multiple teams or with frameworks such as SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus is a strong plus.· Scrum Master certification required (CSM, PSM I, or equivalent). Advanced certifications (PSM II/III, A-CSM, SAFe SM/RTE) are highly preferred. Technical Background (Required)· Prior hands-on experience in software engineering — backend, frontend, mobile, or QA.· Solid working understanding of modern software development practices and technology stacks, Delivery & Leadership Skills· Obsessive attention to follow-up and closing the loop on every commitment, decision, and action item.· Strong analytical and data-driven mindset — decisions and reports backed by metrics, not opinion.· High ownership and accountability — treats delivery misses and unmanaged risks as personal failures.· Excellent communication: can articulate delivery status, risks, KPIs, and trade-offs clearly to engineers, peers, and leadership.· Ability to lead teams under tight deadlines without compromising quality or sustainable pace.· Strong organizational skills — manages multiple workstreams, risks, and reports concurrently without dropping commitments.· Conflict resolution and negotiation skills — pushes back on scope creep and protects the team while maintaining stakeholder trust.· Servant-leadership mindset balanced with the assertiveness required to drive delivery and enforce discipline.
