About the Role
ZAGH is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Jewellery CAD Designer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is central to translating creative concepts into technically sound, production-ready 3D models. The ideal candidate combines strong artistic sensibility with rigorous technical knowledge of jewellery-specific CAD workflows, structural integrity, and metal weight optimization.
This is an in-office position, the designer is expected to work from our studio in Maadi, Cairo on scheduled days each week, collaborating closely with the design and production team. Once a strong working rapport is established, limited offsite work may be permitted on a case-by-case basis, solely at management's discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Create precise, production-ready 3D CAD models of jewellery pieces (rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, etc.) using industry-standard software. Translate hand sketches, mood boards, and verbal briefs into accurate technical 3D designs. Ensure every design accounts for structural integrity — stone-setting security, prong/bezel strength, wearability, and durability under normal use. Calculate and manage metal weight for each design to align with cost targets, without compromising strength or aesthetics. Prepare files for casting/production (STL export, wax printing specifications, gemstone placement, etc.). Make iterative revisions based on feedback from design leadership and production/manufacturing partners. Collaborate with the design team to refine concepts for manufacturability and cost-efficiency. Maintain an organized library of CAD files, revisions, and technical specifications for each piece. Stay current with jewellery CAD techniques, materials, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts or Fine Arts, with a specialization in 3D Design (or closely related field). Must be able to provide official university degree/diploma documentation upon request.
Technical Skills Demonstrated deep proficiency in jewellery-specific CAD software, particularly Rhino (Rhino Gold / Matrix or similar plugins a strong plus). Solid understanding of jewellery structural engineering principles; how metal thickness, prong design, and setting types affect durability and stone security. Strong grasp of metal weight management; designing pieces that hit target weight/cost without sacrificing strength. Familiarity with the full production pipeline; 3D printing/wax printing, casting, stone setting, and finishing processes. Comfortable working with gemstone specifications (sizes, cuts, settings) and translating them into CAD models.
Portfolio & Experience Must submit a portfolio showcasing prior jewellery CAD work (renders, technical drawings, and ideally photos of the final produced pieces). Prior professional experience designing for production (not only academic/conceptual work) preferred.
Work Style Detail-oriented with strong precision and quality control habits. Able to take design direction and translate it faithfully while offering technical input when needed. Reliable and punctual for scheduled in-office days. Good communication skills for collaborating with designers and production teams. High degree of personal integrity and trustworthiness, given access to proprietary designs and pricing information. Extreme discipline in meeting deadlines, following technical specifications precisely, and maintaining consistent quality across revisions. Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken, for clear communication with the design and production team.
Other Requirements Must have no current or prior affiliation with competing jewellery brands or businesses, and must not be simultaneously engaged with any competitor during employment.
Application Requirements Candidates must submit:Updated CV/resume Copy of university degree(s)/diploma(s) Portfolio of jewellery CAD design work (PDF or online link) Availability for a physical interview
