Key Responsibilities System Design & Engineering Lead the development of HVAC system designs, including cooling and heating load calculations, equipment selection and sizing, duct and chilled-water piping layouts, ventilation, and air distribution systems, for commercial, residential, hospitality, and industrial projects. Perform thermal load calculations, duct/pipe sizing, and equipment datasheets using industry-standard software (e.g., HAP, TRACE, Elite CHVAC/Chillpak). Produce and review detailed HVAC drawings, schematics, schedules, and technical specifications using Auto CAD, Revit MEP, and BIM coordination tools. Design HVAC systems in line with local climate conditions, energy efficiency targets, and client design criteria. BIM & Multidisciplinary Coordination Lead HVAC modeling in Revit MEP, ensuring model accuracy and LOD compliance. Run and resolve clash detection using Navisworks Manage, coordinating closely with Architectural, Structural, Electrical, and Plumbing/Fire Protection teams to deliver a fully integrated, clash-free model. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, site teams, consultants, and contractors throughout each design stage. Codes, Compliance & Authority Submissions Ensure all HVAC designs comply with international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA) and local authority requirements, including Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Trakhees, ADM, Estidama/Al Sa'fat, and the Saudi Building Code (SBC) as applicable to the project location. Prepare and coordinate HVAC submission packages for authority approval, and address review comments to secure approvals with minimal revision cycles. Project & Stakeholder Support Act as the primary technical point of contact with the Dubai head office design team, project managers, and clients on HVAC design matters, ensuring alignment on design intent and delivery schedules. Review shop drawings, material submittals, and vendor data for technical compliance during the construction phase. Support tender and proposal stages with technical input, quantity take-offs (BOQs), and preliminary design. Provide technical clarifications to site and execution teams, and support commissioning and testing activities where required. Team Leadership Mentor and technically guide mid-level and junior HVAC engineers and BIM modelers, reviewing their work for accuracy and code compliance. Lead internal design reviews and QA/QC checks, and contribute to continuous improvement of internal HVAC design standards and BIM workflows. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional body is an advantage (e.g., Engineers Syndicate, Saudi Council of Engineers for KSA-facing work). Required Experience7 to 10 years of progressive experience in HVAC design engineering, with a strong track record on projects in the UAE and KSA markets. Proven experience within an MEP design consultancy, engineering back-office, or similar setup supporting projects in the Gulf region. Experience across a range of project types (commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use, or industrial) is preferred; experience with major client/authority frameworks (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Saudi Aramco, MOH/CBAHI-compliant healthcare projects) is an advantage. Required Technical Skills Expert-level knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP and Navisworks Manage for HVAC modeling, coordination, and clash detection. Strong proficiency in Auto CAD for design and drafting. Strong knowledge of HVAC design and load calculation software (HAP, TRACE, Elite CHVAC/Chillpak, Ductsize, or equivalent). Solid working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA standards, alongside UAE and KSA local codes and authority approval processes (Dubai Municipality, DEWA, Civil Defence, Trakhees, SBC). Familiarity with BIM execution plans (BEP), LOD requirements, and common data environment (CDE) platforms (e.g., BIM 360/ACC). Strong technical report writing, specification development, and BOQ preparation skills. Key Competencies Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering decision-making skills. Working Conditions Based in the Cairo design back office, working in direct support of live projects managed from the Dubai head office. May require occasional coordination calls aligned with Dubai/KSA working hours.
