<p>Org. Setting and Reporting Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), UNDRR has over 160 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with UN Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community. This project position is based in the Regional Office for Arab States in Cairo, Egypt and reports to the Deputy Chief, under the overall authority of the Chief of the Regional Office. Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: 1. Supports the installation, implementation, and operational use of DELTA-Resilience to strengthen national disaster risk and resilience analytics. 2. Assists in Sendai Framework Monitor (SFM) reporting and utilization, including data compilation, data quality check, validation, liaison with country coordinators and contributors, and submission in line with Sendai Framework indicators. 3. Building on existing loss and damage databases, including DesInventar, contributes to improving the quality, consistency, and interoperability of disaster loss and damage data across national systems. 4. Aligned with the Sendai Gender Action Plan (Sendai GAP), assists the improvement of data disaggregation by sex, age, income, and disability level, as well as by hazard types. 5. Contributes to the implementation of Global Disaster-Related Statistics Frameworks (G-DRSF) and the integration of disaster data and other official statistics domains to support losses and damages tracking. 6. Capacity Building: a. Supports capacity development of partners through technical assistance, training activities, and user support on disaster-related statistics and reporting tools. b. Contributes to the development of regional and national data training materials for primarily DELTA-Resilience and SFM. 7. Contributes to analytical inputs, reports, and monitoring products that inform risk-informed planning and decision-making. 8. Data Management and Systems Support: a. Compiles, clean, and tabulate disaster-related data and metadata, including SDG-relevant information, from official national and international sources. b. Maintains the DELTA-Resilience portal by performing backend data entry, uploading content, and updating statistical snapshots, blogs, indicators, and data sources as requested. c. Monitors National Statistical Office update calendars to ensure the most updated available official statistics are utilized. d. Verifies the accuracy and consistency of all information, data, and metadata entries to ensure high-quality reporting and portal integrity. 9. <li><span>Understanding of networking and optical transmission technologies such as DWDM and OTN across vendors including Nokia, Huawei and Ciena.</span></li>
<li><span>Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.</span></li>
<li><span>Exposure to cloud-native architectures and cloud platforms.</span></li>
