Job Summary We are seeking a Fire Protection Pipe Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in Destructive Testing (DT) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying the integrity of fire protection piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.<br>Key Responsibilities<br>Perform and supervise hydrostatic, pressure, and leakage tests for fire protection piping systems. Ensure all testing activities comply with HSE regulations and company quality procedures. Support system commissioning and final project handover.<br>Qualifications<br>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.3+ years of experience in fire protection, piping, or industrial inspection and testing. Familiarity with NFPA, and relevant international standards. Testing and pre-commissioning support• Prepare systems for pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, cleaning, rotation checks, alignment verification and other pre-commissioning activities.• Confirm temporary connections, vents, drains, blinds, test boundaries and exclusion zones are correctly installed.• Coordinate manpower and equipment during tests and support reinstatement after successful completion.• Ensure test records, punch items and outstanding actions are communicated to the engineer.9. Reporting and documentation• Prepare accurate daily progress, manpower, equipment and material reports.• Maintain marked-up drawings, completed quantity records, inspection status and work-front photographs.• Record delays, access restrictions, instructions, rework by others and extra-work activities as they occur.• Provide timely information to support progress measurement, invoicing, variations and claims.10. Team leadership and handover• Lead by example and maintain discipline, professional conduct and cooperation within the workforce.• Coach foremen and technicians on installation quality, productivity, safe working and housekeeping.• Coordinate punch-list completion, preservation, cleaning and area handover.• Ensure all tools, surplus materials, temporary supports and waste are removed before final acceptance.<br>Qualifications:• Education: Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Mechanics, Mechanical Construction or a related discipline.• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is advantageous but not mandatory where strong field experience is demonstrated.• Trade qualifications in pipe fitting, equipment installation, welding supervision or industrial mechanics are a plus.<br>Experience:• Minimum 15 years of relevant industrial mechanical installation experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.• Hands-on experience with equipment erection, piping, supports, ducting, steel accessories, alignment and mechanical completion.• Experience in power, cement, steel, gypsum, petrochemical, utilities or process-plant projects is preferred.<br>Technical Skills:• Ability to read general arrangement drawings, isometrics, support drawings, equipment layouts and vendor manuals.• Good understanding of mechanical fit-up, alignment, bolting, torqueing, gasket installation, welding preparation and testing.• Ability to estimate daily manpower, tools, access and material requirements.• Practical knowledge of inspection requests, punch lists, material control and daily progress measurement.<br>Software:• Basic to intermediate use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and mobile reporting applications.• Ability to review PDF drawings and use digital photographs and mark-ups for progress reporting.• Familiarity with ERP, attendance or document-control systems is advantageous.<br>Physical Demands:• Ability to work outdoors, at height, in confined spaces and around heavy machinery.• Ability to stand, walk, climb and inspect work areas for extended periods.• Availability for overtime, night shifts, weekends and shutdown work as required by the project.<br>Certification and Training:• Construction safety, permit-to-work, work-at-height, confined-space, fire-watch and lifting-awareness training.• Pipe fitting, mechanical equipment installation, torqueing, alignment or welding-supervision training is advantageous.• First-aid and basic emergency-response training is preferred.<br>Competencies:• Strong field leadership and workforce discipline.• Clear communication with engineers, foremen, workers and client representatives.• Practical problem-solving and quick escalation of technical constraints.• Attention to safety, quality, productivity and material control.• Accurate reporting and willingness to take ownership of assigned work fronts.
