Head of Sales & Business Development ELLI – Education Technology (EdTech) Location: Egypt Employment Type: Full-Time
About ELLIELLI is an education technology platform designed to simplify and improve the way schools operate, teach, communicate, and engage with students and parents. Our platform brings together academic management, assessments and grading, attendance, communication, parent and student engagement, reporting, analytics, scheduling, medical and student information, and other essential school functions within one integrated ecosystem. As ELLI enters its next stage of growth, we are looking for an experienced Head of Sales & Business Development to lead our expansion across schools in Egypt and build a scalable commercial operation.
The Role This is a senior, hands-on commercial role for someone who can both develop the sales strategy and personally drive major opportunities from first contact through closing. The Head of Sales & Business Development will be responsible for building ELLI's presence across Egypt's private, language, and international school market, developing relationships with school owners and senior decision-makers, generating new opportunities, closing strategic accounts, and ultimately building and managing ELLI's sales team. We are particularly interested in candidates who already understand the Egyptian education market and have an established network within schools or education groups.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Develop and execute ELLI's sales and business development strategy across Egypt. Identify and prioritize target schools, school groups, and strategic accounts. Build relationships with school owners, board members, directors, principals, academic leaders, and other key decision-makers. Generate new business through existing relationships, referrals, networking, direct outreach, partnerships, events, and other channels. Conduct meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations with prospective schools. Understand each school's needs and position ELLI accordingly rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all sales approach. Manage opportunities throughout the full sales cycle, from initial contact and qualification through demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, pilots, and contract signing. Develop and manage a strong and measurable sales pipeline. Work closely with management on pricing, proposals, commercial terms, and major negotiations. Maintain disciplined follow-up with prospective clients and ensure opportunities continue progressing.
Building the Sales Function Help establish ELLI's commercial processes, sales methodology, CRM structure, reporting, and KPIs. Build and maintain a structured database of target schools and key decision-makers. Establish clear processes for lead generation, qualification, demonstrations, proposals, pilots, closing, and handover to implementation. Recruit, train, and manage Business Development/Sales Executives as the company grows. Set individual and team targets and monitor performance against agreed KPIs. Develop sales scripts, objection-handling strategies, proposal standards, and best practices. Provide accurate pipeline and revenue forecasts to management.
Market Development Develop a strong understanding of Egypt's private, language, and international school landscape. Monitor competitors, market trends, pricing, and developments within EdTech and school technology. Identify potential partnerships and channels that could accelerate ELLI's growth. Represent ELLI at relevant education events, conferences, networking opportunities, and meetings. Develop relationships with school groups, education organizations, consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
Product & Customer Feedback Act as a bridge between prospective customers and ELLI's product and technical teams. Identify recurring customer needs, objections, feature requests, and market opportunities. Provide structured market feedback to help guide ELLI's product roadmap. Work closely with the implementation and customer success teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to onboarding. Maintain relationships with key accounts after closing and identify opportunities for expansion and referrals.

What We're Looking For Strong experience in B2B sales, business development, or commercial leadership. Proven ability to generate opportunities and close significant B2B accounts. Experience selling to schools, education groups, or the education sector in Egypt is strongly preferred. An existing network of school owners, directors, principals, or senior education decision-makers would be a significant advantage. Experience in EdTech, Saa S, LMS/SIS/ERP platforms, educational services, educational publishing, or school technology is highly desirable. Strong presentation, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. Comfortable presenting and demonstrating technology to senior decision-makers. Commercially driven and highly organized, with strong follow-up and pipeline-management discipline. Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines. Ability to work independently and take ownership rather than waiting for leads or instructions. Strong understanding of consultative selling and long B2B sales cycles. Fluent Arabic and strong professional English.
The Person We're Looking For We are looking for someone who thinks like a business builder, not simply a salesperson. The right candidate will be comfortable opening doors themselves, developing relationships from scratch, walking into meetings with school owners and senior management, understanding their challenges, demonstrating ELLI confidently, negotiating commercial agreements, and following opportunities through until they become customers. They should also have the leadership ability to eventually build a high-performing sales organization around them.
Success in This Role Success will be measured through clear commercial outcomes, including:Qualified sales pipeline generated Meetings and demonstrations with target schools Pilot programs launched New schools contracted Number of paid students onboarded Annual recurring revenue generated Sales conversion rates Sales cycle performance Growth of strategic school-group accounts Accuracy of pipeline and revenue forecasting
Why Join ELLI? This is an opportunity to join ELLI at an important stage of its growth and play a central role in building its commercial presence across Egypt. Rather than inheriting a rigid sales structure, the Head of Sales & Business Development will have the opportunity to help build the function, shape our go-to-market strategy, develop the team, and directly contribute to ELLI's growth in the Egyptian education market.

Manage, plan, record, and direct the RDD department, ensuring all business requirements are met and services are provided effectively. This encompasses strategic planning for departmental operations, allocating resources efficiently, meticulously documenting all project progress and decisions, and leading the team to ensure that all tenant coordination tasks are completed on time and to the required quality, thereby supporting the broader business objectives. Direct and manage the tenant plan check and permit processes. This includes overseeing the thorough review of all tenant design and construction plans against local codes, property guidelines, and technical specifications, as well as guiding tenants through the necessary steps to secure all required permits and approvals from relevant authorities, ensuring legal compliance and smooth execution. Review tenant design packages for compliance with property guidelines. This is a critical step where all architectural, interior design, and technical drawings submitted by tenants are rigorously checked against the established design criteria, material specifications, and aesthetic guidelines of the property to maintain a cohesive and high-quality environment. Maintain and enforce company technical specifications, updating property guidelines based on evolving needs and international retail standards. This involves not only ensuring adherence to current technical documents but also proactively reviewing, revising, and implementing updates to these specifications and property design guidelines to reflect best practices, technological advancements, and emerging international retail trends, ensuring the property remains competitive and modern.

Project Planning & Financials

Establish conceptual budgets for tenant projects involving landlord work. This entails developing preliminary cost estimates for any construction or modification work that the landlord (Arkan/Savills) is responsible for within a tenant's space, providing a financial framework for these specific project components. Coordinate any changes to the base building design with the construction team. This involves liaising with the core construction team to communicate and integrate any necessary modifications to the building's structural, mechanical, or architectural elements that may arise due to tenant-specific requirements or unforeseen conditions, ensuring all changes are properly documented and executed.
