Strategic Finance Manager — The Flex<br><br>The Flex is creating the future of flexible accommodation.<br><br>We operate and manage properties across multiple cities and countries, bringing together hospitality, technology and operational excellence to make renting a home as effortless as booking a hotel.<br><br>As our international footprint expands, we are searching for an outstanding Strategic Finance Manager to help build the financial systems, controls and insights required to support a rapidly growing global business.<br><br>This is far more than a conventional accounting position. You will work closely with our founders and leadership team, take ownership of essential financial processes, evaluate business performance and provide the insights that enable better decisions as we scale.<br><br>Your Mission<br><br>As Strategic Finance Manager, you will play a central role in The Flex’s financial operations.<br><br>Your objective will be to give the business complete clarity over where its revenue comes from, how its money is spent, how each area is performing and where profitability can be improved.<br><br>Your responsibilities will span accounting, financial analysis, management reporting, payment reconciliation, budgeting and business performance.<br><br>You will have exposure to the entire organisation, collaborating directly with operations, revenue management, property teams and senior leadership.<br><br>For an ambitious individual, this position offers a clear path toward becoming Head of Finance or, ultimately, moving into a CFO-track role as The Flex continues to grow.<br><br>What You Will Own<br><br>Lead and continuously strengthen our day-to-day financial controls and reporting, ensuring that every number shared with management is accurate, validated, complete and supported by reliable evidence. Identify repetitive and manual finance tasks, create more efficient processes and collaborate with our engineering teams to automate them. Reconcile payments from Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, direct reservations and other distribution partners, confirming that every expected payment is received correctly and on schedule. Reconcile bank accounts and incoming transactions, ensuring that funds are properly received and recorded while investigating and resolving discrepancies quickly. Monitor and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. Review supplier invoices and expenses incurred across the company. Oversee statutory filings and corporate compliance requirements across several jurisdictions, making sure that all submissions are correct and completed within the required deadlines. Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisers, auditors and banking partners to maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely compliance. Assist with financial statements for landlords and property owners whenever required. Develop dashboards and reporting tools that provide management with real-time visibility into company performance. Evaluate financial results across individual properties, cities, countries and business units. Create and maintain company budgets, forecasts and financial models. Track cash flow and support management in planning future funding and capital needs. Detect financial risks, discrepancies and potential sources of revenue leakage. Review the company’s cost base and uncover opportunities to strengthen margins. Partner with operational teams to understand, control and reduce costs at property level. Contribute to financial due diligence for acquisitions, investments and expansion into new markets. Scope The Country Product Manager - Ocean Freight is responsible for developing and executing the country’s Ocean Freight (FCL/LCL) product strategy. Ensures competitive pricing, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, strong carrier relationships, and P&L performance. Drives digital adoption, product competitiveness, and customer satisfaction through coordinated action with Sales, Operations, and Regional Product Teams.<br>Responsiblities Product Strategy & Market Positioning Build and execute the national Ocean Product road map aligned with regional/global product teams. Analyze market trends,competitor activities,regulations, and customer behaviors to identify growth opportunities. Deploy standardized global/regional solutions (digital tools,product programs)adapted to local needs. Generate and share consistent market intelligence reports for internal stakeholders. Operational Execution & Process Optimization Operational Oversight: Oversee daily FCL/LCL operations, ensuring high service quality and seamless coordination between carriers, ports, truckers, and customs brokers. Risk Mitigation: Proactively manage operational risks—including port congestion, equipment imbalances, and transit delays—by implementing robust contingency plans. Commercial Management: Manage local tariffs and ensure accurate, competitive pricing for all spot and non-standard requests. Training & Enablement: Deliver specialized product and system training to Sales and Operations teams, aligning local execution with Regional and Global Product Team standards. Commercial Leadership & P&L Ownership P&L Management: Own the country’s Ocean Freight P&L, with direct accountability for revenue growth, margin optimization, and strict cost control. Tender Leadership: Lead the country-level ocean tender process and partner with the Sales team to secure strategic accounts and identify new trade opportunities. Key Account Engagement: Engage directly with high-value customers when necessary to drive commercial success and strengthen partnerships. Procurement Excellence: Drive significant cost savings through aggressive carrier negotiations and disciplined allocation management. Stakeholder, Carrier & Compliance Management Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain and develop relationships with local carriers, NVOs, port authorities, terminals, and key clients. Performance Management: Conduct QBRs with Carriers to align on performance KPIs and resolve disputes, including rollovers, D&D, and ETA issues. Compliance Oversight: Ensure full compliance with customs, sanctions, safety rules, and local regulations. Executive Escalation: Act as the primary escalation point for major operational or commercial issues. <br>Qualifications / Experience Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred). Experience: Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in the ocean freight forwarding industry, with a strong background in ocean freight operations and procurement roles. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of global shipping markets, Incoterms, and carrier contracts. Technical Skills: Proficient in data analysis tools and ERP/Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Sustainability: Solid understanding of ESG and sustainability programs within the freight and logistics sector. Communication: Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus. Mobility: Willingness to travel as required.
