Capital Projects Consulting: Assistant Manager/Manager Role Summary The Capital Projects Consulting Assistant Manager/Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex assurance and advisory engagements within the Capital Projects & Construction practice. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise in project delivery disciplines (Project Planning, Controls, Contract Administration, and Claims) with proven capabilities in client relationship management, business development, and team leadership. The Manager drives outstanding quality execution, develops trusted client relationships at the executive level (CXOs, Board of Directors, Audit Committees), and is accountable for achieving engagement profitability and overall client satisfaction.<br>Key Responsibilities1. Engagement Leadership and Quality Delivery Engagement Management: Lead, plan, and direct multiple simultaneous capital projects assurance and advisory assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with professional standards. Technical Oversight: Provide final-stage review and oversight for all technical deliverables, including independent assessments of project schedules, cost forecasts, contract compliance reviews, and complex delay/claims analyses, ensuring technical accuracy and defensibility. Risk & Strategy: Develop and present strategic, risk-based recommendations to clients on improving their Capital Projects governance, project controls structure, and risk management processes. Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and deliver clear, persuasive presentations and reports to senior client stakeholders, including Audit Committees and CXOs, translating complex technical findings into strategic business implications.2. Business Development and Client Relations Client Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key client executives (e.g., CFOs, COOs, VPs of Capital Programs) and serve as a trusted advisor in the market. Proposal Development: Lead the development of effective proposals, statements of work, and supporting collateral to secure new business, clearly articulating the value proposition and scope of services. Value Identification: Proactively identify client needs and expansion opportunities within existing accounts to grow the Capital Projects practice.3. Practice and People Management Team Development: Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop Consultants and Senior Consultants, facilitating their professional growth and technical skill development (e.g., in forensic cost auditing, delay analysis). Resource Management: Manage engagement economics, including budgeting, billing, and resource allocation across the project portfolio to ensure utilization and profitability. Thought Leadership: Contribute to the development of methodology, tools, and intellectual capital for the Capital Projects practice.<br>Qualifications & Competencies Category Requirement<br>Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Construction, etc.), Quantity Surveying, or Architecture is required. An MBA or Master's degree is a plus. Experience8+ years of progressive experience in Capital Projects, focused on construction assurance, project controls, or claims management. Technical Expertise Mandatory Expert-Level Knowledge in the disciplines of Project Planning, Project Controls, Contract Administration, Claims Analysis, and Quantity Surveying to effectively supervise technical teams. Leadership Proven track record of managing project teams (3+ individuals) and leading multiple, concurrent complex engagements. Professionalism Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence C-suite executives.
