ROLE PURPOSEPrepare accurate, fully-costed quotations for woodwork, furniture, joinery, and fit-out projects — taking a project from tender drawings through to final selling price. This is a specialist estimating role, not general quantity surveying: the right candidate understands real furniture and joinery manufacturing costs, not just measurement and pricing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Take projects from tender drawings through BOQ, quantity take-off, materials, hardware, labor, subcontractors, finishing, wastage, overhead, and margin to a final quotation • Prepare BOQs and material take-offs for woodwork, furniture, and joinery scope • Price materials including MDF, plywood, veneer, solid wood, laminate, and HPL • Price hardware — hinges, runners, locks, handles, and fittings • Cost factory labor and site installation labor separately • Understand CNC and production implications when estimating • Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations • Prepare tender submissions and coordinate with technical office and production during handover
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS • 3–8 years of total estimating experience, with at least 2–5 years directly estimating woodwork, furniture, joinery, or fit out projects — general quantity surveying or MEP estimating experience alone is not a fit • Able to read Auto CAD drawings, PDFs, and shop drawings • Strong knowledge of finishing types: paint, lacquer, veneer, stain, and PU • Advanced Excel and costing-sheet skills; ERP costing/procurement system experience preferred • Ideally has production or factory-floor exposure, not only desk-based estimating • Strong English for specifications and tenders
