Purpose of the Job: The Automotive Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the leading and executing the development and integration of safe automotive systems in compliance with functional safety and safety of intended functionality standards. The role focuses on ensuring that electrical/electronic (E/E) systems, including ADAS and ADS features, are developed according to applicable safety processes throughout the product lifecycle.<br>Responsibilities and Duties Perform functional safety activities according to ISO 26262 across system, hardware, and software development phases. Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and determine ASIL classifications. Develop Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC). Derive and manage functional safety requirements and ensure bidirectional traceability. Perform safety analyses including FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, and FTA. Perform safety management activities including Safety planning, Safety lifecycle coordination, and Confirmation measure support Define and evaluate safety mechanisms for system, hardware, and software architectures. Review and evaluate unit tests, integration tests, fault injection tests, interface tests, and system-level verification results against safety requirements. Define safety verification strategies and verification methods for system, software, and hardware levels. Develop and assess safety validation activities to demonstrate that the intended functionality achieves acceptable residual risk in real operational scenarios. Perform SOTIF activities including triggering condition identification, functional insufficiency analysis, scenario-based evaluation, and assessment of performance limitations. Define and assess validation targets, acceptance criteria, and performance metrics for ADAS/ ADS. Perform AI safety activities in alignment with ISO/PAS 8800, including AI model safety assessment, dataset considerations, and safety-related performance monitoring. Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. <br>Experience3–5 years of experience in automotive functional safety. Strong experience with ISO 26262 lifecycle activities and safety work products. Practical experience in ADAS/ADS systems and automotive E/E architectures. Good knowledge and practical exposure to SOTIF activities and scenario-based validation approaches. Knowledge of ISO/PAS 8800 concepts and exposure to AI/ML-based automotive systems and AI safety activities. Familiarity with requirements management and safety analysis tools is preferred. Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers and supporting technical guidance within project teams. Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory. Strong understanding of automotive functional safety principles, safety lifecycle activities, and safety engineering practices. Knowledge of ADAS/ADS technologies, perception systems, sensor fusion, and autonomous driving concepts. Understanding of SOTIF principles related to performance limitations and foreseeable misuse scenarios. Understanding of AI safety concepts for automotive applications, including perception model risks and dataset considerations. Responsibilities:<br>Prepare & review General Layout Drawings, equipment arrangement, above/underground cable raceway design, grounding calculations, grounding grid layout, secondary (equipment) grounding, lightning protection system layout and related calculations, equipment lists, BOQs. Perform Electrical Equipment sizing calculations (MV&LV cables, Transformers, Diesel Generators, Circuit breakers, etc...) Perform grounding grid sizing and analysis calculation. Perform Lightning assessment and layout drawings in accordance with IEC 62305 and NFPA780. Ensure compliance with electrical design requirements, project specifications, and company procedures. Coordinate and liaise with other disciplines (e.g. Civil/ Structural, mechanical) to design electrical installation. Evaluate supplier proposals and select equipment based on technical requirements and project specifications. Review of Supplier Drawings/Calculations including but not limited to protection, Control, and telecommunication systems of the substation. Monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and manage resources effectively. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices. Identify any concerns during design process and report to Lead Electrical Engineer.<br>Qualifications:<br>Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering – Electrical Power Major. A Higher Degree (Master’s, PhD) is a Plus.5+ years of working experience in Primary design of substations and/or power plants. In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (IEC, IEEE, NEC, etc.). Experience in grounding calculation using CDEGS, CYMGRD, or equivalent software. Proficiency in Auto CAD, Microsoft Office, etc. 3D modeling experience (e.g., Smart Plant, PDMS, Revit) is a plus.
