Roles & Responsibilities
The Android Application Support Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving production Android applications built using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose . The role is aligned to L2 and L3 application support , with a strong focus on incident resolution, application stability, root cause analysis, and performance optimization for guest facing mobile platforms in a hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the highest escalation point for complex Android application issues.
- Perform deep root cause analysis of critical and recurring incidents.
- Diagnose and implement code level fixes in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Lead performance tuning, crash reduction, and stability initiatives.
- Support critical releases, emergency hotfixes, and rollbacks.
- Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and security teams on systemic issues.
- Proactively identify risks impacting guest experience and application availability.
- Mentor L2 engineers and define Android support best practices.
Deliverables / Expected Outcomes:
- Permanent resolution of critical and recurring Android issues.
- Improved app performance, reliability, and release quality.
- Documented RCA reports with preventive and corrective actions.
- Reduced incident recurrence and improved SLA adherence.
- Defined standards and guidelines for Android application support.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- 6+ years experience in Android development and/or L3 application support.
- Expert level proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose .
- Strong understanding of Android architecture, lifecycle, and performance tuning.
- Experience supporting high usage, guest facing mobile applications .
- Proven experience supporting production Android applications .
- Experience analyzing crashes, ANRs, and performance metrics.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Android builds and releases.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.
Tools / Platforms / Technologies:
- Mobile Apps (Kotlin/Jetpack compose)
- SQL (PostgreSQL)
- Monitoring Tools (Datadog, CloudWatch)
- Git / CI-CD Tools (GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
- ITSM Tools (ServiceNow, Jira)
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience in luxury hotel or resort operations
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- Knowledge of AWS
- Exposure to mobile app QA/testing tooling (Firebase, TestFlight)
- Strong grasp of API security , caching, and CDN optimization
- Experience with observability enhancements (dashboards, alerts, log enrichment)
Certifications (if any):
- Professional Android Developer (Google) or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation (IT Service Management)
- Cloud or DevOps certifications supporting mobile CI/CD
- Mobile security, performance, or secure coding certifications
