Scaling Up Economic Empowerment and Systemic Integration is a three-year project (July 2026 June 2029) funded by the Ursula Zindel-Hilti Foundation (UZHF). The project aims to enhance the resilience and socioeconomic empowerment of vulnerable women and men within supportive and inclusive communities. The initiative focuses on strengthening collaboration between Plan International Egypt (PIE) and Ashoka Arab World (AAW) to achieve sustainable, community-driven impact. It engages social entrepreneurs, community leaders, and community-based organizations (CBOs) as key agents of change. The project will be implemented across four governorates: Assiut, Sohag, Beheira, and Damietta, targeting marginalized groups through integrated and inclusive economic empowerment interventions. A total of 24 partner CBOs will be supported through comprehensive institutional capacity building, governance strengthening, and tailored technical assistance provided by PIE. In parallel, these CBOs will participate in social entrepreneurship training delivered by AAW, equipping them with innovative tools and approaches to design and implement effective, community-based solutions. Following the capacity-building phase, CBOs will be empowered to design, implement, and manage local initiatives, with continued technical guidance and financial support from both PIE and AAW. At the community level, the project will directly target 1,600 beneficiaries, contributing to improved livelihoods and inclusive economic participation. The project is designed across 4 main outcomes: Outcome 1: Strengthened capacities of community actors, and CBOs as key drivers of change within the targeted communities.
