About us
Velocity Growth is a global growth consultancy that combines growth strategy, market research, performance marketing, SEO, analytics, data science, pricing strategy, CRO, product-led growth, UI/UX design, and CRM systems into a single integrated engagement.
Backed by a team with growth leadership experience from Uber, Uber Eats, Accenture, Botim, Noon, and SWVL, the Velocity Growth team operates across 30+ markets spanning the GCC, Europe, UK, US, Asia Pacific and Australia.
Unlike traditional agencies that sell isolated services, Velocity operates as an embedded growth team: diagnosing bottlenecks across the entire funnel, building measurement infrastructure, and executing across acquisition, activation, and retention simultaneously.
Our methodology treats growth as a system, connecting paid media to CRM automation to product UX to analytics and pricing, rather than optimizing channels in isolation.
We serve startups (Series A through C), scale-ups, and enterprises across fintech, banking, Saa S, e-commerce, real estate, mobility, food tech, healthtech, logistics, insurance, retail, education, and travel.
Headquartered in Dubai with delivery capability across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
About the role
We are hiring an engineer to build those solutions with us, and for the foreseeable future, you are the engineering team rather than the first seat of one. You will set the architecture from the first commit with no legacy consensus to negotiate, and the two founders who currently write this code between client calls will be handing it to someone who does it better.
The breadth is unusual for a single role, because advertising platforms, analytics warehouses, CRMs, enrichment vendors and model providers all sit inside the same job, and you will see directly what the thing you built went on to earn.
The work is remote and full-time, with substantial overlap with Gulf business hours. Please note that the compensation will be paid in USD, with no tax deductions applied.
What you will build
Every system here does something with real consequences, so expect to be working on:
Growth engines that run unattended: pipelines that source, enrich, score and act on data on a schedule, where a silent failure at two in the morning costs money rather than throwing an error someone notices.
Client-facing products: multi-tenant applications where one client's data must be structurally incapable of reaching another client's screen, with the isolation enforced in the database rather than in a conditional somewhere in the UI.
Deep integration work: most of what we build talks to somebody else's API, and that is where the hard problems are. Advertising platforms, analytics warehouses, CRMs, enrichment vendors, messaging and outreach platforms, document and spreadsheet APIs, and the model providers. Vendor documentation is frequently wrong, so verifying behaviour against the live API is part of the job rather than an exception.
The data and analytics layer: turning raw event exports into the answer to a commercial question. This is SQL and data modelling work, and it is a growing part of what we do. A meaningful share of the value we deliver comes from finding the thing in a client's own data that nobody has looked at.
Systems that spend money and send things: several of our pipelines buy credits, send email, and write to platforms we do not control. Those paths get designed to fail closed, because the cost of a wrong decision is not a stack trace; it is a client relationship.
You will also inherit and harden things that already run in production, and you will have real latitude to rebuild what deserves rebuilding.
How we work, and why it shapes whom we want
We build with AI models on every task, using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Kimi and whatever proves best next month, and you are expected to arrive fluent in this and to get further with it than we do. That changes what we are hiring for. Producing code is no longer the constraint, so we are not looking for someone who types quickly. The constraint is that generated code fails in a particular way: it compiles, it reads correctly, the tests are green, and it is quietly wrong in a way that only shows up in production a week later.
We want someone whose instinct on being handed a working feature is to ask what would have to be true for it to be silently broken, and then go and prove it either way. The same instinct applies to claims, because we hold ourselves to stating only what we have measured and marking everything else as inferred or unknown, and that standard covers code, analysis and what you tell us is finished.
These are the shapes that survive a competent review, and catching them is the core skill of this role:• A gate that blocks known-bad values instead of admitting only known-good ones• A read that swallows its error and reports the failure as a zero• A list endpoint that returns the first ten of fifteen records and looks complete• A green build whose module cannot initialise in the runtime it ships to
What we are looking for
Strong production engineering across the stack: You have built and operated real systems end-to-end, rather than features inside an architecture somebody else owns. Node, with Java Script and Type Script both in play across our systems today, so we need you strong in one and fluent in the other. A modern React framework, Postgres, and the surrounding infrastructure of deploys, cron, queues, logging and alerting.
Genuine database depth: Schema design, migrations run against live data, row-level security and access control, query performance. Analytical SQL in a warehouse is a strong plus, and will become part of the role regardless.
API integration as a craft: You have been burned by an undocumented vendor behaviour and you have built the reading and verification habits that come from it.
Architecture that survives the second customer: Anything built for one client and monetised later gets rebuilt from scratch, and that is a lesson we have already paid for. We want multi-tenancy, configuration and isolation designed in from the first commit.
Ownership: You will often be the only person who understands a given system, so you write it to be understood, you know when it breaks before we do, and you say clearly when something is not finished. Both founders read code and will review yours, and we expect you to tell us when our review is not good enough.
Fluency with AI-assisted development, including where it is unreliable and what you do about that.
What earns you brownie points
None of the following is required, and any of it moves you up the list:• Product sense, and views on what should be built rather than only on how to build it• Comfort talking directly to a client or to a client's own engineering team• Design and front-end craft beyond making the thing functional• Experience with advertising, analytics or marketing platforms• Data science and statistical rigour applied to commercial questions• Experience raising the engineering bar around you, through review or mentoring

Connect to your opportunity. The past couple of years have proven that supply chains of today are subject to exponentially increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA); resulting in a few major and many minor disruptions all around the globe. On the flip side, technological advancements in the area of big data, artificial intelligence (a.o. machine learning), cloud, etc. have shown to hold potential to significantly increase the capabilities of a company to weather these storms, amongst others in the space of supply chain & network operations.

ABOUT POPCORN
Popcorn is an AI studio changing how ads get made. Brands and creators startwith a product link and finish with a complete video ad — script, cast, location, storyboard, voiceover and final render, generated end to end inminutes.
We are built for the Middle East and Arabic-first. The product ships fullybilingual in English and Arabic, right to left from the ground up, and it isdesigned to scale globally.
Design is not decoration here. We ask people who have never opened an editingtimeline to direct a video — casting, framing, pacing, tone. Whether thatfeels effortless or overwhelming is a design outcome.
THE ROLE
We are hiring a Senior Digital Product Designer to own the product experienceend to end — from the first flow sketch to the final pixel, in two languagesand two reading directions.
The central challenge of this role is simplicity. Video production has realdepth: formats, casting, locations, pacing, direction, revision. Our platformgives people access to all of it. Making that depth feel effortless — so thatsomeone who has never made an ad can reach a great one without instruction, while an experienced user still finds the control they came for — is thehardest and most valuable design work we have.
If you are the kind of designer who is happiest removing steps, sharpeningdefaults and making a powerful tool feel obvious, this is your role.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Making a powerful product feel simple. This is the heart of the job. You willown information architecture, progressive disclosure, defaults, and thesequencing of choices — deciding what a user sees now, what waits untillater, and what they never need to think about at all. Success looks like afirst-time user reaching a finished ad without reading anything, and areturning user moving faster every time.
The creation studios. Multi-step flows where users go from a product link toa finished ad — choosing formats, casting characters, setting scenes, reviewing takes. These are the most important surfaces in the product and themost demanding: a lot of capability, a lot of state, and a user who needs tofeel in control without being handed a control panel.
Designing for generation. Our renders take minutes and the output is notfully predictable. Waiting states, progress, previews, partial results, andthe moment someone sees their video for the first time. This is some of themost interesting interaction design in the product, and there is noestablished playbook for it.
The bilingual experience. Every screen ships in English and Arabic with full RTL. That means real Arabic typography, correctly mirrored layouts, and copythat reads as if it were written in Arabic rather than translated into it. You will own how the product feels for an Arabic-first user.
The design system. We build on a custom system — our own tokens, componentsand patterns rather than an off-the-shelf kit. You will own it, keep itcoherent as the product grows, and make sure new surfaces feel like theybelong.
Mobile. A large share of our users are on phones, often on slowerconnections. Mobile is a first-class surface, not a scaled-down afterthought.
Brand and visual language. Our identity leans on a soft, three-dimensionalillustration style with a character at the centre of it. You will extend thatlanguage across the product, marketing pages and launch moments.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 4+ years designing digital products, with a portfolio showing depth on complex, interactive interfaces — tools and applications, not only landing pages. Saa S, creative tools or AI platforms preferred.- A track record of simplification. You can point to a product surface you made materially easier to use — fewer steps, clearer choices, better defaults — and explain how you knew it worked.- Strong information architecture instincts. You are comfortable deciding what to surface, what to defer, and what to remove entirely, and you are as proud of what you cut as of what you added.- Onboarding and first-run design. You know how to get a new user to a real result fast, and why that matters more than any other screen.- Strong end-to-end product design. You can take an ambiguous problem through flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI and engineering handoff, and explain the reasoning at every step.- Excellent visual craft: typography, spacing, hierarchy, colour and motion.- Bilingual and RTL design experience, or the clear ability to take it on. Arabic typography and mirrored layouts are central to this role, not an edge case.- Fluent Arabic and English. You will design and write copy in both.- Design systems experience. You have built and maintained components, tokens, variants and documentation.- Mobile-first responsive design as a default instinct.- Accessibility fluency — colour contrast, focus states, touch targets, motion sensitivity. We treat these as part of the craft.- Figma mastery: components, variants, auto layout, prototyping, and files other people can actually work in.- User research skills — planning and running sessions, watching people use the product, and turning what you see into design decisions.- Comfort collaborating with engineers, and enough literacy in how the front end works to design things that build cleanly.
BONUS POINTS
- Illustration or 3D skills (Blender, Spline, Cinema 4D). Our visual identity leans on rendered 3D.- Motion design (After Effects, Rive, Lottie) and an eye for interface motion that carries meaning rather than decoration.- Experience designing for AI products — generation flows, prompt interfaces, results that vary between runs.- UX writing, especially strong Arabic microcopy in a conversational Khaleeji register.- Front-end skills (HTML/CSS, Tailwind, React) enough to prototype or adjust in code.- Video, film or creative-tool background — you understand shots, cuts and pacing.- Experience designing for the GCC or wider MENA market.
PORTFOLIO
A portfolio is required. Send a link — Behance, Dribbble, Notion, PDF or apersonal site are all fine.
We are most interested in two or three projects in depth rather than a broadgallery. For each, help us understand the problem, the options youconsidered, what you decided and why, and how it turned out.
We would especially like to see a project where you took something complexand made it feel simple. That is the single most relevant signal for thisrole. If you have bilingual or Arabic work, please include that too.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary- Genuine ownership of the product experience- Work people see — our users are brands and creators across the region- Direct access to the founders- Medical insurance- Annual leave- Equipment and learning budget
HIRING PROCESS
Usually two weeks end to end.
1. Intro call, 30 minutes — your background, what we are building, mutual fit.2. Portfolio walkthrough, 60 minutes — you present two projects and we dig into the decisions behind them.3. Design exercise — a focused, paid take-home centred on simplifying a rich, multi-step flow, followed by a working session where we review it together the way we would review real work.4. Final conversation with the founders — product direction, ways of working, and your questions for us.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Linked In with your CV and portfolio link, or email hedar@popcornstudio.ai
Tell us about something you removed from a product, and why it made theexperience better. That tells us more than a list of tools.
We review every application personally.
Popcorn is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on capability and craft, and we welcome applicants of every background, gender & religion.
