Position: Senior Laboratory Teaching Engineer - Mechanical Engineering Department<br>Reports to: Technical Operations Manager and Industrial Liaison<br>Purpose: The job holder is responsible for operating and maintaining the assigned labs, providing the necessary support for faculty, researchers, teaching assistants, graduate or undergraduate students and external customers, including supervising the installation, operation and maintenance of lab equipment , assisting in procurement vendors including market surveys and the collection of price quotations, and spare parts, training equipment users, assuring equipment operation, setting up the equipment operation schedule, organizing work flow, ensuring lab safety, and representing the department of mechanical engineering in University and school events. In addition, the job holder is responsible for assisting instructors of courses to which he or she is assigned as a teaching assistant in facilitating learning activities inside and outside the classroom and the laboratory.<br>Responsibilities:Assist in preparing the technical data and documents for accreditation reports, e.g. ABET, Supreme Council, Middle States, and others Assist faculty in selecting different equipment Assist in establishing and maintaining links with vendors of equipment, supplies, and technical services Assist in managing maintenance operations and contracting for the department Ensure assigned labs’ readiness for any technical task within its predetermined mission Operate and maintain all assigned labs’ assets, e.g. machines, equipment, tools and infrastructure, under the guidance of the faculty lab supervisor Implement and report all labs’ technical work instructions, Lab needs and activities to the faculty lab supervisor Run trials of the work to be carried out by students prior to the lab session Set up, conduct, and explain experiments to students in the assigned labs Assist faculty lab supervisors in the development of lab manuals and procedures With the approval of the faculty lab supervisor, facilitate the projects or research endeavors of the undergraduate or graduate students, as well as researchers and professors in their research activities or grants and engineering and science services Stay up to date and report to lab faculty supervisors on new or required developments in fields related to the assigned labs Procure consumables or simple supplies from local market vendors, and perform any required market survey Contact the vendors to get price quotations for any required items Maintain an updated inventory of all lab items Ensure smooth operation of the lab in supporting instructors, students, and course requirements, while maintaining proper inter-lab relations Continuously train subordinates to maintain their competence in using all the labs’ assets Facilitate the projects or research endeavors of the undergraduate or graduate students, in their thesis as well as researchers and professors in their research activities or grants and engineering services Carry out various manual tasks using manual tools, where applicable Ensure safe and clean working environment within the assigned labs and their premises, in coordination with the AUC health and safety department Apply safety regulations or precautions, safe work practices, and immediately report any safety violation incident or condition or potential hazards Monitor first aid kits, fire-fighting equipment and safety gears in coordination with the AUC clinic and health and safety department Supervise the cleanliness of the lab workplace, equipment and tools Support students in carrying out experimental work in labs Assist in all required duties related to students in coordination with the faculty supervisor Assist in preparing course material and lab handouts under the guidance of the course instructor Conduct revision or problem sessions which do not require the introduction of new materials to students under the guidance of the course instructor Leading in-class discussions and group activities which do not require the introduction of new materials to students under the guidance of the course instructor Perform any other related duties as assigned<br><br>Requirements:Minimum Education Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering A minimum of five years of experience in related fields At least one year of experience as a lab engineer or a similar experience Technical Skills:High level of competency with drafting and 3-D modeling tools High level of competency with engineering software including Matlab and ANSYS fluent Hands-on experience with energy-systems Strong Microsoft Office tools competency Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong scientific background Skills: Advanced English skills, reading and writing Very good Arabic skills, reading and writing Very good communication skills in both English and Arabic Very good time management and planning skills Good interpersonal skills. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Music Academy Coordinator to join our team at the Music Academy for the GIU campus. This role involves a blend of administrative and creative responsibilities, coordinating closely with various departments within the GIU framework and managing the intersection of artistic, academic and administrative functions.<br>Key Responsibilities:<br>Coordinate internally between the music academy and other departments within GIU, especially with key university stakeholders, including the Center of Continuing Education, Student Activities, MPC, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Arts, External Relations and more. Liaise between the academy’s management, GIU Music Circle and the future Music School, as well as the GUC Music Ensemble Assist the heads of the academy and artistic/academic affairs with administrative tasks. Assist in planning and budgeting the academy’s annual activities, including negotiations with artists as well as obtaining necessary approvals and permits for events and workshops. Manage inventory and lending system of the Music Academy’s equipment and instruments Identify and engage external partners and sponsors, relevant to the music and arts sector. Organize exchange projects between Egypt and Germany, within the GIU/GUC Berlin Campus framework and beyond. Prepare technical riders for concerts and coordinate with suppliers. Conduct ongoing research on equipment and instrument needs for the academy, as well as maintaining an updated inventory. Market and promote the academy through PR as well as digital marketing tools (social media, email marketing, newsletter). Archive events, including documentation, media coverage, photos, and feedback. Help launch the GIU Music School, manage music school applications, instructor contracts and payment processes.<br>Required Profile:<br>Educational and Work Background / Language Proficiency Preferably a Masters degree in cultural management, management or musicology. Related study fields or relevant work experience in a similar role is also possible. The candidate should be highly proficient in spoken and written Arabic as well as in English.<br>Musical Experience Practical experience in music is an asset. A passion for music and commitment to music education are a must.<br>Administrative Skills Proficiency in administrative tasks and software skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Asana). Familiarity with design software and technology is an asset.<br>Communication Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with colleagues, students and external stakeholders. Additionally, skills in building relationships within the music community and networking with stakeholders.<br>Leadership and Team Management Experience in leading and managing teams as well as problem solving and conflict management skills.<br>Organizational Abilities Strong capability in organizing events and managing multiple tasks with impeccable time management.<br>Additional Requirements<br>Ability to walk extensively on campus. Flexibility for irregular working hours and sometimes work over the weekend, based on the academy’s requirements. Knowledge of the cultural and musical scene in Egypt.
