ABOUT YASSIR

Yassir is the leading super app in the Maghreb region, set to change the way daily services are provided. It currently operates across Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa and Senegal. It is backed by ~$200M in funding from VCs across Silicon Valley, Europe and other parts of the world.

We offer on-demand services such as ride-hailing and last-mile delivery. Building on this infrastructure, we are now introducing financial services to help our users pay, save and borrow digitally — helping usher the continent into a digital economy era. We’re not just about serving people; we’re about creating a marketplace that brings people what they need while infusing social values.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our Core Payments squad, working alongside our Senior PM to build and scale the engine that moves money across the Yassir platform. This is a hands-on, technical role at the heart of our financial infrastructure.

Core Payments owns the systems every transaction depends on: the payment orchestration flow, the switch and PSP integrations, and reconciliation and settlement. Every payment on the platform — wallet-to-wallet, card, bill payment, interbank transfer — passes through the sequence of compliance, limit, balance, and ledger checks that this squad is responsible for. Correctness, resilience, and traceability are non-negotiable.

You will translate complex payment and ledger requirements into clear specs, work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers on the design of transaction flows, and own the edge cases — retries, failures, reversals, and reconciliation — that make the difference between a payment system that works and one that loses money.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

A flavour of the problems this squad solves day to day:

Payment orchestration — the ordered sequence of checks (channel policy, entitlement, limits, balance, fees, sanctions, fraud, ledger post) that every transaction runs through before money moves.

Transaction routing across paths: internal wallet-to-wallet ledger posts, interbank transfers via the national switch, card payments via the scheme, and biller / bill-payment flows.

Failure handling and money safety — idempotent retries, suspense accounts, and preventing “ghost” payments where an external party is paid but the customer is never debited (or vice versa).

Switch and PSP integration — working with engineers on card authorisation flows, PSP failover, and the messaging between Yassir and external payment networks.

Reconciliation and settlement — making sure Yassir’s ledger matches the external world (billers, banks, schemes) and that breaks are surfaced and resolved.

Resilience — defining fallback behaviour when a downstream service is slow or down, so the payment path degrades safely instead of failing entirely.

Responsibilities

Own a defined area of the Core Payments roadmap, working closely with the Senior PM and engineering leads on your squad.

Write clear, thorough technical specifications — API contracts, transaction flows, state transitions, error codes, and acceptance criteria — that engineers can build from without ambiguity.

Reason rigorously about edge cases: what happens on a timeout, a retry, a partial failure, a crash mid-transaction — and specify the correct behaviour for each.

Collaborate daily with engineers on system design; understand the tradeoffs well enough to challenge and be challenged, not just relay requirements.

Coordinate with adjacent squads — Compliance, Core Banking, and the channel teams — whose systems connect into the payment flow.

Partner with operations and finance on reconciliation, settlement, and how payment issues are detected and resolved in production.

Use data to monitor payment success rates, latency, and failure modes, and to prioritise what to fix or build next.

Facilitate agile ceremonies and keep your squad delivering to roadmap and quality goals.

REQUIREMENTS

3–5 years of product management experience, with meaningful time on technical or infrastructure products (payments, fintech, ledger, banking, or a comparable backend / platform domain).

Genuine technical depth: comfortable with APIs, data models, and system design discussions; able to read a spec, follow a transaction through multiple systems, and spot the gaps.

Strong grasp of how payments or financial transactions work end-to-end — authorisation, settlement, reconciliation, and the failure modes in between (or the ability to demonstrate you can learn this fast, backed by adjacent experience).

A track record of writing high-quality technical specs and working closely with engineering teams to ship reliable systems.

Precision and rigour — you care about correctness, edge cases, and getting the details right, because in payments the details are the product.

Ability to work with ambiguity and build in a fast-moving, from-scratch environment.

Knowledge of modern development practices like agile and scrum.

Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to make complex technical topics clear to non-technical stakeholders.

Based in Cairo, Egypt (required).

Fluent English and Arabic; French is an advantage.

NICE TO HAVE

Direct experience with payment systems: card schemes (ISO 8583), interbank messaging (ISO 20022), switches, PSPs, or gateway integrations.

Understanding of double-entry ledgers, suspense accounts, and reconciliation.

Experience with idempotency, distributed-system failure handling, or transaction integrity patterns.

Exposure to compliance-adjacent product work — limits, sanctions screening, AML, or fraud.

A technical, engineering, or consulting background before product.

At Yassir, we believe in the power of diversity and the importance of an inclusive culture. If you’re ready to bring your unique perspective and experiences to the table, we’re excited to listen. Don’t just apply for a job — come and be a part of our journey. Let’s create a better tomorrow together.

The goal of this job function is to provide reliable support and effective coordination to ensure the successful development and implementation of projects, especially GTEX Egypt which is one of the five country projects implemented under GTEX/MENATEX programme. Work Location Cairo, Egypt Expected duration One year, with possibility of extension Duties and Responsibilities BACKGROUND: This position is located in the International Trade Centre s Section on Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness within the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions The Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness (SEC) Section helps developing country micro-small medium size enterprises (MSMEs) to address the challenges around sustainable value-chain development, catalysing sector-wide transformation, and improving market linkages including using new digital channels. The Fibres, Textiles and Clothing (FTC) unit improves the international competitiveness of the fibres, textiles and clothing as well as leather sector in developing countries. Working along the value chain, special emphasis is given on how the sector can improve its competitiveness, while addressing important development aspects such as women s empowerment, youth employment and contributing to reducing climate change. FTC emphasizes the business case for addressing these overarching challenges while helping companies as well as the T&C sector in selected countries to meet ever increasing market requirements. The unit builds capacity of SMEs to take over additional functions along the value chain at production, pre- and post-production stages. In addition to the work with SMEs directly, the programme supports the institutional ecosystem around the sector to improve support services creating a holistic approach to the sector. As part of this approach, the FTC unit puts special emphasis on south-south cooperation as an effective tool to improve performance, link stakeholders across the value chain and to tap into new markets. After having suffered disproportionally from the disruptions of Covid-19, SMEs in the sector are in the process of restarting their businesses and re-entering markets. At the same time, they are being pushed to show they are producing in a responsible and sustainable way in response to increasing market pressure and mandatory due diligence and eco-design requirements being put in place by markets such as the EU, Switzerland and the United States. The EU Strategy for sustainable & circular textiles and about 16 regulations in the making by the EU will affect the T&C sector, both in Europe and those that would like to sell in Europe. The market will, thus, impose new challenges to developing country textile and clothing manufacturers that need to be addressed. FTC flagship programme is Global Textile and Clothing (GTEX) that enhances the export competitiveness of the T&C in selected countries. Phase II of the GTEX/MENATEX programme helps the four MENA countries of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia as well as Sri Lanka to stay on top of emerging market requirements for the textiles and clothing (T&C) sector by moving towards greener practices and being able to adhere to strict forthcoming EU regulations for T&C products sold in Europe. Being a key sector for exports and employment in all five countries, the project will ensure that employment is retained, and new higher value-added decent jobs are being created through the exports of quality, socially and environmentally conscious products. The project will also contribute to the required systemic change of the T&C industry towards more environmental sustainability, circularity and digitalization RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Officer, Fibres, Textiles and Clothing (FTC) and the general supervision of the Programme Manager (FTC), the Associate Programme Advisor will be responsible for the following duties: Works with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects activities.; monitors and analyzes specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
Job Purpose

As an Application Security Engineer at Luciq, you will help shape and build our application security program alongside the wider team. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you will work closely with product and development teams across the full software development lifecycle — reviewing designs before code is written, identifying risks as features take shape, and ensuring security is embedded into how we build and ship software, not bolted on after the fact. Our stack runs on Ruby on Rails, Go, and Python, deployed on AWS with Terraform managing infrastructure as code and Jenkins powering CI/CD. You will read and review code in these languages — not just rely on scanner output — and work with AWS security services (SecurityHub, Inspector, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, CloudFront) to provide visibility and protection across our infrastructure. The role spans web applications, APIs, our mobile SDK (iOS and Android), cloud, and CI/CD — partnering with engineers, PMs, Platform, and the Security team to make the secure path the default path. This role can be filled at mid-level with a clear growth path to senior-level as you grow into shaping our application security program, or at senior-level if you're already operating at that scope.

You will join a lean Security team, which entails stepping beyond core AppSec for incident triage, addressing customer security questionnaires, or supporting cross-functional cloud and compliance reviews.
