<p><h4>Position summary</h4>
<p>Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Prepare cold foods. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Set up and break down work station. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles. Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.</p>
<p>Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.</p>
<p>Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.</p>

<h4>Overview of the role</h4>
<p>The Commis role in the IKEA Food & Beverages division is focused on assisting cooks with daily food production, ensuring adherence to food safety standards, and enhancing the culinary experience for guests. This position requires maintaining a safe, efficient, and inviting environment that embraces IKEA values. Success in this role is measured by guest satisfaction, compliance with food safety regulations, and operational performance. The Commis supports the Chef, participates in staff development, and seeks continuous improvement while contributing to the store's commercial goals.</p>

<li>Ensure that all IKEA FOOD co-workers are familiar with CASY (incident reporting).</li>
<li>Guide the IKEA FOOD Team in emergency management and incident response related to food safety.</li>
<li>Initiate and follow up on investigations of incidents regarding national and international food range concerns.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>People</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with the Chef to increase knowledge and expertise in all areas of food production.</li>
<li>Ensure correct use of equipment at all times, reporting any breakdowns or failures to the Chef.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in training sessions as required.</li>
<li>Perform other related functions that may be assigned from time to time.</li>

<p><strong>Steering the business</strong></p>

<li>Actively work to make the IKEA store successful, focusing on attracting visitors, achieving sales growth, ensuring guest satisfaction, and performing well on KPIs.</li>
<li>Ensure the implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.</li>

<li>Implement systems and methods from IKEA Concept Documentation in the Restaurant, Bistro, and co-worker restaurant.</li>
<li>Ensure all ingredients are available from stores and are of good quality.</li>
<li>Ensure high-quality food production by following standard recipes and correct portioning.</li>
<li>Follow all food safety rules and regulations to ensure safe production and storage.</li>
<li>Maintain cleanliness of workstations per cleaning schedules.</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of culinary dishes, enforcing strict health and hygiene standards.</li>
<li>Ensure all equipment and machinery function according to standards and perform preventive maintenance as needed.</li>
<li>Confidently handle food processing and use IKEA tools, manuals, and guidelines.</li>
</ul>
