Process Engineer – Food / Tobacco / FMCGJob Summary Responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving production efficiency, reducing waste and operating costs, and ensuring consistent product quality and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to improve plant performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Monitor and optimize production processes to improve OEE, throughput, yield, quality, and line efficiency. Analyze production data and identify bottlenecks, process losses, downtime, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), process parameters, work instructions, and process control plans. Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and root-cause analysis techniques. Conduct RCA, FMEA, CAPA, and process risk assessments for production and quality issues. Optimize raw-material consumption, energy usage, water consumption, labor utilization, and production costs. Support new product introductions, product trials, process validation, and scale-up activities. Establish and maintain critical process parameters and ensure production processes remain within defined specifications. Work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve machine reliability and reduce unplanned downtime. Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and modification of production equipment and process lines. Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, occupational safety, environmental, and company standards, as applicable. Investigate customer complaints and internal quality deviations related to manufacturing processes. Prepare process reports, production KPIs, improvement reports, and technical documentation. Train production personnel on process improvements, SOPs, and equipment operating standards. Participate in audits and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented. Industry-Specific Responsibilities Food & Beverage Optimize mixing, cooking, filling, packaging, pasteurization, sterilization, and CIP processes. Monitor critical control points and process parameters related to food safety. Improve yield, recipe consistency, line speed, and product quality. Tobacco Optimize tobacco processing, blending, conditioning, cutting, drying, and cigarette/consumable manufacturing processes. Monitor moisture, density, weight, dimensions, and other critical product parameters. Improve material utilization, machine efficiency, and product consistency. FMCGOptimize high-speed production and packaging lines. Improve changeover times using SMED and reduce material/product losses. Support automation, line balancing, capacity improvement, and cost-reduction projects.
