<p><b>Entity: </b></p><br>Production & Operations<p><br><b>Job Family Group: </b></p><br>Subsurface Group<p><br><b>Job Description: </b></p><br><p>Global Subsurface Solutions (GSS) is a global organisation within Subsurface which delivers high-quality, fit for purpose subsurface technical products to address critical business challenges across bp’s subsurface businesses, including oil, gas and low carbon projects.</p><br><p>GSS Geologists are deployed as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary agile squad (GSS-led or Region-led), where they work as individual contributors or squad leads to:</p><br><ul><li>Support resource progression and reservoir management</li><li>Evaluate new opportunities (e.g. Exploration & Appraisal, Production and Development)</li><li>Progress low carbon energy projects</li><li>Develop and deploy digital and data solutions</li></ul><p>GSS geologists work on clastic deep-water, paralic, non-marine reservoirs, and carbonate reservoirs, supporting all phases of business activity from early access to late-life field management.</p><br><p><b><span>What you will deliver</span></b></p><br><p>As an Integrated Geologist in GSS you will use your deep technical skills in geology, your business insight, a bias for subsurface cross-discipline integration, and a thorough appreciation of subsurface uncertainty and risk management, to deliver integrated subsurface solutions that inform business decisions across bp’s global oil, gas and low carbon portfolio.</p><br><p>As an individual technical contributor, the successful candidate will work closely with other subsurface disciplines, to deliver high-quality geological inputs to progress prioritised business opportunities. Deputy Chief Geotechnical Engineer <br> <br>Anglo Gold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government.<br> <br>Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.<br> <br>The Role<br> <br>We are looking for a a Deputy Chief Geotechnical Engineer to co-lead our slope stability and ground control teams. In this critical operational role, you will assist the Chief Engineer in managing geotechnical risks, optimizing open-pit wall designs, and ensuring the safety and continuity of large-scale mining operations.<br> <br>Location: On-site in Marsa Alam Contract Type: Permanent, full-time Schedule: 6 weeks/3weeks working roster Compensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package <br>The Key Responsibilities<br> <br>Slope Stability & Design: Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of open-pit walls, waste dumps, and tailings storage facilities (TSFs). <br>Technical Assurance: Oversee rock mass characterization, structural mapping, and advanced 2D/3D limit equilibrium and finite element modeling (e.g., Rocscience, Slide, RS3, FLAC). <br>Risk & Monitoring Management: Manage real-time slope monitoring systems (radar, total stations, piezometers) and define trigger action response plans (TARPs). <br>Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and schedule day-to-day activities for a field team of geotechnical engineers, geologists, and technicians. <br>Operational Safety: Drive a zero-harm culture, leading incident investigations and geotechnical hazard mitigation efforts across the pit. <br>The Requirements<br> <br>Mining engineering graduate.8+ years in relevant role in mining industry.
