Job description

Responsibilities:

• Greet and welcome guests with a warm, professional demeanor upon arrival
• Manage the reservation system and maintain an accurate seating chart
• Seat guests promptly and ensure optimal table assignments based on party size and preferences
• Provide guests with menus and communicate current specials or promotions
• Monitor dining room flow and coordinate with service staff to ensure efficient table turnover
• Answer guest inquiries regarding menu items, wait times, and restaurant policies
• Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate to management when necessary
• Maintain a clean and organized host stand, including reservation books and guest lists
• Answer incoming phone calls and take reservations with accuracy and courtesy
• Assist with guest coat check and departure procedures
• Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to optimise guest experience
• Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support restaurant operations

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience as a Host/Hostess in a restaurant or hospitality setting (minimum 1 year preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with reservation management systems and point-of-sale (POS) software
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the dining room
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Knowledge of basic health, safety, and sanitation standards

Preferred:

• Experience in an upscale or fine dining establishment
• Familiarity with restaurant operations and service standards
• Bilingual capabilities
• Certification in food safety or hospitality customer service
• Experience with guest management software or reservation platforms
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
