Role Objectives:
To lead and oversee day-to-day Distribution Center operations, ensuring efficient execution of inbound, storage, picking, dispatch, and returns activities. The role is responsible for maintaining high service levels, ensuring inventory accuracy, ensuring safety compliance, and promoting team productivity within an FMCG environment, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Distribution Center Operations:
- Lead daily DC operations, including inbound receiving, put-away, storage, picking, dispatch, and returns handling.
- Ensure smooth workflow across all warehouse activities to meet operational plans and dispatch schedules.
- Manage peak volumes and operational challenges to ensure continuity of service.
Inventory & Stock Control:
- Ensure strict compliance with FIFO/FEFO standards to minimize expiry, waste, and shrinkage.
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy and order accuracy through effective stock control practices.
- Oversee cycle counts, stock reconciliations, and expiry management activities.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management:
- Supervise warehouse teams and manage shift planning, manpower allocation, attendance, and productivity.
- Coach, guide, and support supervisors and team leaders to ensure consistent performance on the warehouse floor.
- Ensure compliance with company labor policies and operational procedures.
Health, Safety & Quality Compliance:
- Ensure full adherence to HSE, food safety, and quality standards across all DC operations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized Distribution Center environment at all times.
- Address safety risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Performance Management & Reporting:
- Monitor daily operational KPIs, including productivity, accuracy, service levels, and dispatch performance.
- Prepare and share daily and weekly performance reports, highlighting gaps and improvement areas.
- Ensure operations meet agreed SLAs with internal and external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Control:
- Support productivity improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts within the DC.
- Assist in controlling operating costs through efficient labor utilization and space optimization.
- Support automation, system enhancements, and operational excellence initiatives as required.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain, Planning, and other relevant teams to align on volumes and priorities.
- Communicate operational risks, constraints, and requirements proactively to stakeholders.
Required Education, Knowledge, And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Distribution Center or warehouse operations.
- Solid experience in Distribution Center or warehouse operations, preferably within an FMCG environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes, inventory management, and FIFO/FEFO compliance.
- Working knowledge of HSE, food safety, and quality standards.
- Proven experience leading frontline teams in a shift-based operational environment.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of resolving operational issues effectively.
- Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Google Workspace.
