PURPOSE
Responsible for controlling and planning complete yard process in order to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
Strategies and research approach for the yard planning development & review regularly the yard processes, to ensure utilization.
Daily monitoring of the yard activities to ensure it is in line with the planned strategy, and ensure corrective actions to be taken when and wherever required.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop, implement, and continuously refine the overall yard strategy to maximize capacity, productivity, and vessel turnaround times.
- Strategically allocate yard space by vessel service, carrier, container type (e.g., loaded, empty, reefer, hazardous, out-of-gauge), and storage duration.
- Proactively manage yard density and congestion, executing contingency plans to maintain fluidity.
- Focus on optimal equipment deployment and utilization.
- Prepare the guidelines and, Instructions work flow related to housekeeping, empty movement, corrections, gate , ITT etc.
- Periodically reports to the Planning Manager on the status of production, yard density, equipment utilization and strategy/allocation changes. Prepares standard Reports for circulation.
- Understanding of International Maritime Organization IMO code for segregation of hazardous cargoes in both the terminal yard and on board vessels.
- Effective interpersonal communications skills and ability to develop a climate of collaboration and teamwork within all levels of the SCCT operational workforce, management and customer representatives.
- Effective planning, organizing, motivating and time management skills.
- Maintain good relations with both internal and external customers with full understanding of their needs and requirements.
- Encourage and participate in close teamwork with the Vessel Planners to ensure that SCCT provides an effective overall terminal planning service for internal operations and for customers.
- Undertake other duties within capabilities as directed by SCCT management.
- Configure, monitor, and fine-tune the Terminal Operating System (TOS) parameters to ensure the yard planning module operates optimally and aligns with the set strategy.
- Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all yard-related processes, including housekeeping, empty container movements, repositioning, and gate operations.
- Analyse yard performance statistics (e.g., crane productivity, truck turn-times, re-handle rates) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Instruct and demonstrate pre-job safety talk to Insure that all reported team working in safe positions and with the proper way .
- In Emergency cases, and incidents help and instruct investigation team as the technical advisor at site of incident.
Require a college degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related discipline.Require at least Three years or more in container terminal operations environment, or similar, related industry.
