ROLE SUMMARY:

The Facilities, Health and Safety Officer supports the Head of Operations in managing the daily activities of F&M contractors on campus. He/she is also act as the guardian of safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, electricity, etc.) and refurbishments.
• Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers, etc.).
• Ensure the safety and efficiency of all building systems.
• Manage the upkeep of equipment and utilities.
• Supervise contractors and oversee maintenance activities and tradespeople.
• Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs.
• Negotiate contracts with external vendors to secure advantageous terms.
• Conducting risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures.
• Reviewing existing policies and measures and updating according to legislation.
• Initiating and organizing OHS training of employees and executives.
  
  

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• In-depth working knowledge of the Health & Safety.
• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the same position.
• Confidence with use of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Good command of English language.
• Experience as a health and safety coordinator.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
