Senior Officer, Research, Centers of Excellence for Agriculture and Water, Grant Position

Reports to: Director, Project Management


Purpose: The job holder will be responsible for coordinating the AUC technical and administrative activities related to the Center of Excellence (COE) research component. He or She will be responsible for the day-to-day research technical and administrative activities in close cooperation with the Egyptian and US partners. He or She will support the Director, Project Management in all activities related to research grants and all associated events, publications, and activities, i.e. component 3.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead all efforts to write necessary technical reports and publications related to COE research component
  • Prepare documents necessary for the research and policy committees, in the preparation for research related meetings, events and workshops
  • Manage all required additional studies
  • Supervise all the effort for the preparation of research related meetings, events and workshops
  • Assign tasks to other research officers as needed related to research activities
  • Prepare documents necessary for the implementation of the research activities
  • Manage all industry-based research activities
  • Assist in the implementation of the research committee decisions
  • Manage all research administrative or technical-related activities within the AUC scope of work
  • Communicate with local and international partners
  • Manage the AUC activities to develop the national water and agriculture roadmaps
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including industry, academia, and government agencies
  • Lead all AUC technical and administrative activities related to the annual water symposium
  • Manage the preparation of the research calls for proposals as well as other activities necessary for the successful use of the research grants
  • Organize and lead all the development of research publications resulted from all COE research grants or post-graduate students
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in water, management or related areas
  • Masters in a water related field is plus


Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including three years in managing and coordinating research related activities


Skills:

  • Strong coordination skills necessary to ensure successful preparation and implementation of research projects and activities
  • Ability to write high quality English reports and technical water materials
  • Strong coordination and communication skills especially in research-related activities
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities
  • Proven technical skills in the fields of water or agriculture
  • Ability to work in big projects and interact with senior faculty and staff
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Highly collaborative and productive with the ability to coordinate project tasks independently and follow tied time plans
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment and effectiveness in problem solving
