Medical Team Leader - SHC Project

 The Medical Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the efforts of the key medical teams within the SHC project, including the Emergency Hotline Team, Follow-Up Team, Elective Team, Governorate Doctors, and Volunteers. This leadership role ensures that all teams operate cohesively and efficiently to achieve the project’s healthcare delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the Emergency Hotline, Follow-Up, and Elective teams, as well as the Governorate Doctors and Volunteers.
    • Ensure effective collaboration and communication among all teams to deliver integrated healthcare services.
    • Monitor team performance and provide support to address challenges and improve outcomes.
  2. Planning and Supervision:
    • Develop work plans and set priorities for each team in alignment with the project’s goals.
    • Supervise team activities to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and project protocols.
    • Ensure that all teams are adequately staffed and equipped to meet their responsibilities.
  3. Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee the implementation of quality control measures across all medical teams.
    • Monitor healthcare delivery standards to ensure compliance with UNHCR guidelines and the project’s SOPs.
    • Address and resolve any issues related to service quality or patient care.
  4. Reporting and Communication:
    • Compile and submit regular progress reports to the SHC Project Manager.
    • Facilitate regular team meetings to share updates, address concerns, and align efforts.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between the medical teams and the SHC Project Manager.
  5. Capacity Building and Training:
    • Identify training needs and organize capacity-building sessions for team members.
    • Mentor and support team leaders to enhance their leadership and operational skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Medical degree with significant experience in healthcare management.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare delivery systems and challenges in humanitarian contexts.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.

Education & Experience:Medical degree (MBBCh, or equivalent) with a strong background in clinical practice.Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare management, hospital administration, or medical team leadership.Previous experience in humanitarian healthcare projects, NGOs, or refugee healthcare services is highly preferred.Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems, emergency response protocols, and patient referral processes in humanitarian settings.Skills & Competencies:Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and coordinate multiple medical teams, ensuring efficient collaboration and goal alignment.Strategic Planning & Problem-Solving: Strong capacity to develop work plans, manage priorities, and resolve operational challenges in complex healthcare environments.Healthcare Quality & Compliance: Deep knowledge of medical protocols, UNHCR guidelines, and quality assurance standards in healthcare delivery.Communication & Coordination: Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration between teams and stakeholders, including UNHCR and healthcare providers.Capacity Building & Training: Experience in mentoring medical professionals, organizing training sessions, and fostering professional development within teams.Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to monitor performance indicators, interpret healthcare data, and produce comprehensive reports.Crisis Management & Decision-Making: Ability to handle emergency situations, ensure smooth operations during high-pressure scenarios, and make informed decisions.Technical Proficiency:Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for reporting and data tracking.Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and case management software is a plus.Languages:Proficiency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required.Knowledge of French, Tigrinya, Somali, or other languages spoken by refugee populations is an asset.
