The Service Team Leader is responsible for overseeing workshop operations, ensuring the quality and efficiency of vehicle repairs, and maintaining high standards of discipline, cleanliness, and productivity. The role includes supervising technicians, coordinating maintenance tasks, and meeting performance targets while ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and accurate vehicle servicing.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of automotive technicians to deliver high-quality vehicle repairs and maintenance services.
- Ensure that all vehicles are repaired and maintained to company standards, adhering to safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Plan and allocate work to workshop staff, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and within given timelines.
- Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to technicians, helping to troubleshoot complex repair issues and ensure accurate diagnostics.
- Monitor workshop performance to ensure productivity goals, quality standards, and customer satisfaction are consistently met.
- Ensure that all work is documented correctly and in line with company policies, including accurate service records and timesheets.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment, enforcing health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Oversee the ordering and inventory management of parts and supplies, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and that parts are available when needed.
- Handle customer inquiries and concerns professionally, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Train and mentor new technicians, providing ongoing development opportunities to improve skills and enhance the team’s capabilities.
- Assist in evaluating team performance and providing feedback to management.
- Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements, including environmental guidelines for disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
- Stay up to date with the latest automotive technologies, repair techniques, and diagnostic tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Workshop Operations and Quality Assurance:
Oversee maintenance tasks in the workshop and inspect the quality of technician repairs.
Conduct Road tests to ensure vehicles meet safety and quality standards before release.
Maintain high hygiene standards in the workshop and surrounding areas.
Schedule and follow up on equipment maintenance to ensure durability and performance.
Ensure workshop loading is effective, and delivery times are consistently met.
2. Technical Supervision and Support:
Provide technicians with accurate descriptions of vehicle issues and guide them in resolving problems.
Work with diagnostic tools to analyze and identify malfunctions.
Ensure technicians receive and correctly install the appropriate spare parts.
Supervise daily tasks, ensuring equitable job distribution and maintaining high utilization rates.
3. Reporting and Performance Monitoring:
Prepare detailed reports for vehicles with full descriptions of issues and repairs.
Create daily carryover reports and workshop capacity sheets.
Analyze and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for technicians.
Coordinate with technical support and warranty teams for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Assist the technical support department with information to improve service procedures or diagnostic processes.
4. Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure the execution of all campaigns requested by the manufacturer.
- Maintain a high degree of discipline among the workforce.
- Carry out occasional duties related to the scope of the job as requested.
- Undertake occasional tasks relevant to the role as directed by management.
Qualifications & Education:
- Degree in Automotive Engineering.
- 3 years at least in general mechanic, not necessarily in EV.
- Experience in running workshop operations.
- Ability to analyze workshop performance.
- Valid driver license (to conduct test drive).
- Diagnosis experience is a must (handle wirings diagrams).
