Accounts Payable (A/P) Accountant

Job Objective:

To manage the company’s accounts payable processes efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate recording and payment of financial obligations while maintaining strong vendor relationships and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Invoice Management:
    • Receive, review, and verify invoices and payment requests for accuracy and compliance.
    • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts, ensuring proper documentation.
    • Resolve discrepancies and liaise with vendors or internal teams for clarification.
  2. Payment Processing:
    • Prepare and process electronic transfers, checks, and other forms of payment.
    • Ensure timely payment of invoices in accordance with payment terms.
    • Maintain a record of all payments and reconcile vendor statements.
  3. Reconciliation and Reporting:
    • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and monitor accounts to ensure accurate balances.
    • Generate monthly reports on accounts payable activities, including aging reports.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing by preparing necessary journal entries.
  4. Vendor Relations:
    • Communicate with vendors to address queries and resolve payment issues.
    • Maintain positive relationships with vendors while ensuring compliance with company terms.
  5. Compliance and Internal Controls:
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
    • Support audits by providing documentation and clarifications as needed.
  6. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in the accounts payable process.
    • Suggest and implement changes to optimize workflow.

Qualifications and Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.2–4 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting roles.Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle).Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to handle high volumes of transactions.Additional Requirements:Knowledge of local tax regulations and withholding tax requirements.Fluency in English (written and spoken) is an advantage.Work Environment:Office-based role with a focus on accuracy and deadlines.Regular communication with vendors and internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
