Job Overview


The Site Quality Control (QC) Manager for the Concrete Batch Plant is responsible for overseeing all quality-related activities on-site related to concrete production. This includes ensuring that concrete production meets specified requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations. The role involves managing quality control procedures, supervising QC team in the batch plant, conducting audits, inspections, and ensuring compliance with both internal and external quality regulations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control Management:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for concrete production.
  • Ensure concrete products comply with project specifications, national standards, and client requirements.
  • Oversee concrete mix design and material testing to ensure the production of high-quality concrete.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and concrete testing (slump, compressive strength, etc.) to ensure adherence to specifications.
  1. Mix Design Creation and Optimization:
  • Develop and optimize concrete mix designs for various project requirements, ensuring that each design meets strength, durability, and performance standards.
  • Adjust mix designs based on specific project needs, local conditions, and material variations.
  • Perform tests on new and modified mix designs to confirm their compliance with performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure that the concrete mix design aligns with the project’s technical specifications.
  1. Batch Plant Operations:
  • Monitor and supervise the operation of the concrete batching plant to ensure the correct mix proportions, material quality, and batching process.
  • Ensure the proper calibration and maintenance of batching equipment to maintain consistent concrete quality.
  • Ensure raw materials, including aggregates, cement, water, and admixtures, are stored, handled, and used according to specifications.
  1. Inspection and Testing:
  • Conduct regular inspections of the batch plant, equipment, and finished concrete to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Review and manage concrete test results, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate third-party laboratory testing for concrete quality when necessary.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality control documentation, including test reports, inspection logs, and quality assurance records.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports for management and stakeholders, detailing quality findings, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure all quality-related documentation is submitted to the client and regulatory authorities as required.
  1. Team Management and Training:
  • Supervise and lead the site QC team, including QC inspectors, technicians, and lab personnel.
  • Provide training to QC staff on quality standards, safety protocols, and best practices in concrete production.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the QC team, promoting awareness of quality standards.
  1. Compliance and Regulatory Standards:
  • Ensure the batch plant operates in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 9001, local building codes).
  • Monitor environmental and safety compliance to avoid any quality disruptions and ensure safe operations.
  • Assist in audits and inspections from clients or regulatory bodies as needed.
  1. Non-Conformance and Corrective Actions:
  • Investigate and resolve any quality issues or non-conformances in concrete production.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality failures or deviations from standards.
  • Track the status of CAPA implementation and ensure corrective measures are effectively executed.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Continuously review and assess quality control processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Implement best practices for concrete production, mixing, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with the production team to optimize batching processes and improve efficiency.
  1. Client Liaison:
  • Communicate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders to address quality concerns and ensure satisfaction with concrete products.
  • Ensure timely delivery of concrete according to project schedules while maintaining high quality.


Qualifications

1-      Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Quality Control or Concrete Technology (e.g., ACI, QCI) are preferred.

2-     Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in concrete quality control, with at least 5 years as a quality manager role within a batch plant.
  • Extensive knowledge of concrete mix design, production processes, and materials.
  • Experience with concrete production, batch plant operations, and regulatory compliance.

3-     Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of concrete mix design, testing methods, and material properties.
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes, industry standards, and applicable codes (e.g., ACI, ASTM).
  • Ability to create and optimize concrete mix designs based on technical specifications and project requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and quality management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
