Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify and source suppliers for mechanical components and materials required by engineering and production departments.
- Issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluate bids, and negotiate terms and prices with suppliers.
- Assess supplier capabilities and ensure they meet quality, delivery, and cost criteria.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
Cost Management:
- Analyze market trends to ensure cost-effective procurement of mechanical parts and materials.
- Ensure purchases meet budget and financial objectives while maintaining product quality.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or project timelines.
Technical Support:
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications to understand technical requirements and ensure the correct materials are purchased.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve technical and sourcing challenges.
- Provide advice on material specifications, availability, and alternative solutions when required.
Supplier Performance and Quality Control:
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
- Conduct regular evaluations of suppliers and manage supplier audits.
- Work with quality control teams to address any issues with materials and parts.
Order Management:
- Place orders for mechanical materials, ensuring they meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Track orders from suppliers and coordinate logistics to ensure on-time delivery.
- Manage purchase orders, including maintaining accurate records of order status, delivery dates, and invoicing.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock and avoid overstocking or shortages.
- Implement inventory control processes to minimize wastage and ensure the efficient use of materials.
- Work with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure the proper storage and handling of materials.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence.
- Prepare procurement reports on spending, savings, and supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements in procurement activities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and procurement best practices.
- Implement process improvements in the procurement cycle to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to optimize the overall project supply chain.
