Banking and Finance Accountant

Job Summary:
The Banking and Finance Accountant is responsible for monitoring and recording all banking and financing transactions, managing bank account balances, letters of guarantee, and credit facilities, while ensuring the accuracy of financial entries and records and compliance with approved contractual terms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Record and review all daily banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, fees, and bank commissions, in the accounting system. Monitor bank account balances and movements, verify the accuracy of accounting entries, and resolve pending transactions or discrepancies in coordination with banks and relevant parties. Prepare and review periodic bank reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies and unmatched balances. Monitor issued and received checks, including returned checks, ensuring proper recording and processing according to approved financial procedures. Record issued and received letters of guarantee in the accounting system, maintaining details of beneficiaries, amounts, issuance, and expiry dates. Maintain an updated register of letters of guarantee, monitor expiry dates, and take necessary actions for renewal, reduction, or release in line with project and contract requirements. Coordinate with relevant departments and banks to provide required documents and fulfill requirements for issuing, renewing, or canceling letters of guarantee. Monitor credit facilities and loans granted by financing institutions, ensuring compliance with approved terms and credit limits. Track interest rates, fees, and commissions related to facilities and loans, verifying their accuracy and proper accounting treatment. Prepare periodic schedules of loan and facility balances, repayment installments, and accrued interest, ensuring adherence to repayment deadlines. Review withdrawal requests from credit facilities or loans, ensuring compliance with approvals and financial policies. Prepare periodic reports for management on bank balances, available liquidity, utilized and available facilities, and outstanding letters of guarantee. Participate in preparing the cash flow plan, providing necessary banking and financing data to support liquidity management. Monitor, organize, and maintain banking and financing documents and contracts to ensure easy reference and support audit activities. Coordinate with banks, finance, projects, and procurement departments to resolve inquiries, discrepancies, or banking obligations. Participate in monthly and annual closings by reviewing bank balances, interest, fees, loans, and letters of guarantee. Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements for each account, review discrepancies and pending transactions, resolve them, and submit to the Head of General Accounts for review and approval. Carry out any other financial or accounting tasks assigned by direct management.

Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles. Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and (ERP) systems or accounting software like SAP & Odoo Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, cash management, and knowledge of financial instruments like letters of credit (LCs) or guarantees (LGs)
