Tyre Bay Supervisor

Anglo Gold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government.

Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements.

The Role

The Tyre Bay Supervisor is responsible for supervising the activities of the Maintenance Tyre Bay section to maximize mobile equipment reliability and availability. This role focuses on maximizing the use of available resources, driving continuous improvement initiatives for cost savings, and ensuring that appropriate levels of safety and productivity are strictly maintained to meet enterprise targets..

The Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership: Provide direct leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinates. Oversee ongoing training, performance management, conflict resolution, and team development. Carry out regular workplace and on-the-job inspections to guarantee tasks are performed safely, high quality is maintained with zero re-work, and hazards are proactively controlled. Report all HSE incidents immediately. Planning, Scheduling & Logistics: Attend weekly planning meetings and review weekly plans to ensure milestones are realistic and achievable. Execute all planned work in line with weekly schedules while effectively managing unscheduled breakdowns and backlog items. Ensure quality preventive maintenance (PM) inspections are executed to catch faults early. Tyre Data Management: Complete comprehensive tyre report sheets and ensure all tyre changes are accurately tracked and recorded utilizing the specialized Klinge Tyre System. Continuous Improvement & Technical Support: Lead root cause failure analyses on components, conducting regular toolbox discussions on why specific failures occurred. Continually assess tooling and equipment capabilities. Attend weekly equipment meetings with OEM representatives to provide technical advice for equipment and major rebuild projects. The Requirements
Education & Certifications: Formal technical qualification within the Tyre Industry is required. Experience: A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a mining and mineral processing maintenance role is required. Direct experience working in large open-cut (open pit) operations, underground mining operations, or large-scale civil engineering projects is required. Knowledge & Skills: Extensive hands-on experience inspecting heavy tyres, identifying faults, and managing hot/cold vulcanizing procedures. Specific experience overseeing fleet maintenance for heavy Caterpillar equipment. Solid operational knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and backlog workflows. Computer Literacy: Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with the MS Office Suite and site-based CMMS platforms. Strong capabilities operating specialized tyre management data systems. Language & Communication: Good communication skills with the absolute ability to read and write in English.
