Responsibilities Shop Drawings & Engineering Reviews: Prepare, review, and approve detailed civil and structural shop drawings, bar bending schedules (BBS), and composite drawings to ensure alignment with contract documents and architectural intent. Quantity Surveying & Invoicing: Oversee accurate quantity take-offs for civil works, prepare monthly client invoices, and verify subcontractor payment certificates against actual site progress. Technical Support & Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the site execution team, project consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical discrepancies, Request for Information (RFIs), and design clashes. Procurement & Material Submittals: Manage the technical submittal process (material data sheets, samples, and method statements), ensuring all materials comply with project specifications and receive consultant approval. Cost Estimation & Variation Orders: Identify, analyze, and draft variation orders for design changes or scope deviations, providing comprehensive cost estimations and technical justifications to protect project margins. Tendering & Contract Analysis: Assist in reviewing contract documents, analyzing project specifications, and preparing technical and financial proposals during the tendering phase for new packages.
Qualifications Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university, with 5 to 7 years of solid experience in a technical office role within the construction industry (preferably in high-rise, infrastructure, or large-scale commercial projects). Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in engineering software, including Auto CAD, Civil 3D, and MS Excel. Experience with BIM/Revit Structure and project management software (like Primavera P6) is highly preferred. Technical Standards: Strong knowledge of local and international building codes, construction methodologies, health & safety standards, and quality control procedures. Contractual Knowledge: Solid understanding of FIDIC conditions of contract, procurement processes, and standard methods of measurement (e.g., POMI, CESMM). Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Sharp analytical skills for reviewing complex engineering designs, identifying structural clashes, and developing cost-effective engineering solutions. Soft Skills & Leadership: Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills in English, with a proven ability to lead a small team of junior technical engineers and draftsmen under tight deadlines.
