Linux systems administration (RHEL/Debian family) — advanced level Networking equipment configuration (Cisco, HP Pro Curve, TP-Link Omada) Mail stack management (Postfix / Dovecot / Exim + anti-spam) Web servers (NGINX / Apache) — advanced Database servers (Postgre SQL, MySQL/Maria DB) — advanced; MSSQL/Oracle basic Virtualization: Proxmox, KVM, QEMU, VMware Identity & access: LDAP, Kerberos, NIS, SSOFirewall & network security, including antivirus gateways HA/clustering and high-performance systems Bash scripting and automation Basic HP-UX / Solaris / BSD / Windows (PA-RISC, Itanium)
You must have
Owned and operated production infrastructure solo — bare metal / VMs (10–30+ physical or virtual servers) with high container density (50–200+ LXC/Docker containers across multiple roles) Built a full mail stack from scratch — not "we used Exchange"Real incident response experience — outage story, root cause, fix, prevention Linux hardening from memory: SSH, firewall, sysctl, auditd, fail2ban Strong preference for open-source tooling throughout
You won't be a fit if
You've only worked in cloud-managed or GUI-only environments Your answer to an outage is "reboot and see"You've never touched a mail server outside of M365/Exchange
