Job Title: Senior Structural Designer (Offshore 3D / SACS)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Designer to support a UK-based company on major offshore oil & gas, CCSU (Carbon Capture, Storage & Utilisation), and energy transition projects. This role focuses on developing detailed 3D structural models and supporting structural analysis workflows, including work with SACS. The ideal candidate has strong offshore experience and can work independently within a remote, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models for offshore platforms and related facilities Model primary and secondary steel structures, including decks, modules, pipe racks, and support frames Prepare and extract 2D deliverables such as GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and steel details Interface with structural engineers to incorporate analysis results into the design Support and coordinate with SACS models for structural analysis and design validation Ensure compliance with offshore codes, standards, and project specifications Perform model checks, clash detection, and design reviews Coordinate with piping, mechanical, and other disciplines within the 3D environment Maintain model accuracy, naming conventions, and documentation standards Required Qualifications Diploma or degree in Structural/Mechanical Engineering Design or related field8+ years of experience in structural design, with strong offshore project exposure Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling tools (e.g., Aveva E3D, PDMS, Tekla Structures, or similar) Working knowledge of SACS for offshore structural analysis Strong understanding of offshore structural systems, fabrication, and installation practices Ability to interpret engineering drawings, calculations, and design inputs Proven ability to work independently in a remote freelance environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in jacket structures, topsides, and subsea support structures Familiarity with UK and international offshore design standards (e.g., ISO, DNV) Experience working with EPC contractors or offshore engineering consultancies Exposure to brownfield modifications and offshore upgrades Key Competencies Strong spatial awareness and structural detailing skills High attention to detail and quality Effective communication in remote team environments Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple deliverables What We Offer Remote freelance opportunity with a UK-based company Involvement in major offshore oil & gas and energy transition projects Flexible engagement and competitive contract rates Opportunity to work with advanced 3D modeling and analysis tools
