Proc Jet is looking for a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support UK engineering projects from Egypt, working on complex skids and packaged systems within the oil & gas sector.
About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Designer (Drafter) to support a UK-based company on major projects in the oil & gas, CCSU (Carbon Capture, Storage & Utilisation), and energy transition sectors. This is a remote freelance opportunity suited for an experienced professional who can deliver high-quality design documentation independently while collaborating with distributed engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) Prepare and update plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping layouts Interpret engineering markups and specifications into accurate design drawings Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements Coordinate remotely with process engineers, piping designers, and multidisciplinary teams Manage drawing revisions, version control, and document control processes Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables Support design reviews, model reviews, and client submissions Maintain and apply CAD standards, templates, and libraries Required Qualifications Diploma or degree in Engineering Design, Drafting, or related field8+ years of experience in process drafting/design within oil & gas or energy projects Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Auto CAD) Strong experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and process layout drawings Solid understanding of drafting standards, symbols, and tagging conventions Proven ability to work independently in a remote freelance environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with CCSU and energy transition projects Proficiency in 3D design tools (e.g., Aveva E3D, Smart Plant, Plant 3D) Prior experience working with UK-based engineering companies or EPC contractors Familiarity with international standards and best practices Key Competencies High attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication skills in remote team environments Self-motivated with excellent time management Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities What We Offer Opportunity to work remotely with a UK-based company Involvement in high-profile oil & gas and energy transition projects Flexible freelance engagement Competitive contract rates
