GoIELTS.ai is an AI-powered IELTS preparation platform built for Arabic-speaking students across the GCC. We combine official Cambridge content, AI scoring, and a mobile-first experience to help students achieve their target band scores and unlock the scholarships that change their lives. We're expanding our engineering team and need a technical leader who can own the full stack, lead a growing team, and drive the product forward from database to UI, without needing to hand things off.
What You'll Be Working OnYou'll work across the full product — building and maintaining backend APIs, frontend interfaces, and the integration layer in between. This includes test delivery systems, AI-powered evaluation flows, user dashboards, and subscription experiences — all serving a mobile-first, Arabic-speaking audience. Beyond shipping features, you'll lead the engineering team: reviewing code, mentoring developers, defining standards, and translating product goals into technical execution.
What We're Looking For✅ 5+ years in web development with strong full stack experience ✅ Proven experience leading or managing an engineering team of 3+ developers ✅ Next.js 14 (App Router) on the frontend — this is our exact production setup ✅ Laravel PHP 8.3 on the backend ✅ Postgre SQL as primary database ✅ Redis for caching and queue management ✅ RESTful API design and third-party service integration ✅ AWS S3 for file and media storage ✅ Vercel for frontend deployment and CI/CD ✅ Git workflow with branch-based collaboration on Git Hub ✅ Experience integrating AI or LLM APIs into production applications ✅ Experience integrating webhook-based automation systems ✅ Comfortable using AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot) as part of your daily workflow — this is non-negotiable for our team ✅ Strong Arabic communication skills — our team operates in Arabic and English
