Job Title: Social Management Expert
Location: Cairo /Alexandria, Egypt (regular travels)
Contract Type: Part-time consultancy
Start Date: Immediately
Qualifications and Skills:
• A bachelor's degree in social science, sociology, or a related discipline; a higher degree (e.g., master's) is preferred.
• Fluent in English & Arabic.
• Proficiency in MS-Office and relevant social management software.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Professional Experience:
• At least 10 years of experience in social management, particularly infrastructure projects.
• International experience in developing countries.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in addressing social dimensions in the context of large infrastructure projects in accordance with Development or Multilateral Financing Institutions standards.
• Experience in implementing social aspects of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) in developing countries.
• Involvement in at least one large urban project.
• Experience in MENA countries, especially Egypt, is a plus.
Required Inputs:
The expert shall take up their position immediately at the beginning of the project, the expert is expected to:
• oversee the work of social experts mobilized by the EPCM when required. The key expert social needs a team that is permanently present in the field to supervise the performance of the Consultant Engineer and the Contractor as well as to communicate with the public.
• Help establish and implement policies and work plans for the new Social Management Unit and the Grievance Redress Mechanism.
• Develop and bring into operation the reporting procedures and tools for social management.
• Provide part-time support, including reviewing and commenting on all Social Management and Complaints Redress Mechanism reports.
• Regular visits to Cairo/Alexandria to assist counterparts in addressing social management challenges and assessing deliveries from Contractors and Consultant Engineer.
