System Administrator – Mid Level.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support virtual servers both on-premises and in the cloud (Microsoft Azure, GCP, VMware).
- Monitor and validate backups, troubleshoot incidents, and escalate complex issues when needed.
- Support help desk teams by resolving system and infrastructure escalations.
- Administer on-premises infrastructure including Active Directory, Windows Server 2022, Linux servers (Ubuntu), and application/web servers.
- Manage Office 365 email accounts and Azure services.
- Monitor and maintain firewalls (ASA) and switches.
- Install and maintain IIS web servers; configure Apache/Nginx where required.
- Apply system patches, security updates, and SSL certificate renewals.
- Ensure high availability through clustering, load balancing, and redundancy configurations.
- Maintain infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, and file servers.
- Document procedures and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Technical Requirements
Core Skills:
- Cloud administration experience (Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform).
- Strong Linux administration (Ubuntu) and Windows Server 2022 skills.
- VMware vSphere hands-on experience.
- Scripting ability (PowerShell, Bash).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (Layer 2/Layer 3, VLANs, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with web servers (IIS, Apache), SSL/TLS management, and HAProxy.
- Backup and recovery experience (Veeam, SAN/NAS storage systems).
- Monitoring tools experience (e.g., Zabbix).
Additional/Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Docker, Git, GitHub.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Experience with Windows Server clustering and Linux HA.
System Administrator
- Independent role supporting in the AU time zone.
- Must be confident handling both routine tasks and escalations.
- Expected to manage infrastructure proactively, ensure uptime, and coordinate with global IT leadership.
