The Mechanical BIM Engineer supports project teams by developing, coordinating, and managing mechanical BIM models to enhance construction efficiency, accuracy, and project delivery. The role involves close collaboration with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality, coordinated mechanical BIM outputs throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and manage mechanical BIM models (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting) using Autodesk Revit. Coordinate mechanical BIM models with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines to ensure seamless design integration. Participate in BIM coordination meetings and support clash detection and resolution processes. Conduct clash detection using BIM tools to identify and resolve mechanical system conflicts prior to construction. Perform quality checks on mechanical BIM models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and standards. Assist in implementing BIM workflows, standards, and best practices across mechanical project teams. Extract quantities from mechanical BIM models to support cost estimation, procurement, and scheduling activities. Prepare 3D views, sections, and visualizations to support design reviews and client presentations. Support the integration of mechanical BIM models with project management and scheduling tools. Manage BIM data, including version control, file organization, and documentation. Stay up to date with mechanical BIM technologies, standards, and industry best practices. Support HSE initiatives and comply with company and IMS safety policies.
Job Knowledge & Skills Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Strong working knowledge of Revit MEP, Auto CAD MEP, and Navisworks. Good understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary BIM teams. Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills. Ability to support or lead small BIM teams when required. ERP knowledge is preferred; SAP functional experience is an advantage. Minimum 5 years total work experience. At least 3 years of relevant experience in Mechanical BIM.
