Cisco Systems is looking for a Senior Golang Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance, production-grade microservices that power critical enterprise systems. This is a backend-focused role where you will work with modern cloud platforms, distributed architectures, and collaborate across engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
What You’ll Do • Architect, design, and build RESTful and g RPC microservices using Golang • Shape API design, service boundaries, and system architecture for distributed systems • Integrate systems with SQL and NoSQL databases • Build asynchronous, event-driven workflows using technologies like Kafka or Rabbit MQ • Optimize services for high performance, reliability, scalability, and observability • Deploy and operate services using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions • (Optional) Contribute on the frontend using React, Angular, or Vue as part of a full-stack workflow

What You Bring • Experience designing, building, and running production-grade backend systems • Strong expertise in Golang, distributed systems, and API development • Hands-on experience with microservices architectures and cloud-native patterns • Solid understanding of containers, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud technologies • Ability to evaluate trade-offs and make sound decisions around reliability, performance, and scalability • A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for building high-quality software
