We’re looking for a Director of Business Strategy to own revenue growth and commercial decision-making at The Blues Agency.
This is a senior leadership role for someone with proven agency experience who combines strategic thinking with strong sales instincts. You’ll shape the agency’s commercial direction while staying hands-on in closing high-value retainer relationships.
You’ll lead the agency’s business development function, personally drive senior sales conversations, and ensure client acquisition efforts translate into scalable, high-quality retainers.
Responsibilities
Revenue & Commercial Leadership
- Own the agency’s revenue growth strategy and commercial targets
- Define pricing models, retainer structures, and deal frameworks
- Lead and close high-value sales opportunities with senior decision-makers
- Increase average retainer size and long-term client value
Business Development Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Business Development Executive
- Set business development strategy, targets, and priorities
- Improve lead qualification, handover, and pipeline discipline
- Ensure BD activity feeds a healthy, predictable sales pipeline
Client Acquisition & Sales Strategy
- Define and refine the agency’s ideal client profile
- Lead senior-level sales conversations with founders, CMOs, and executives
- Turn agency case studies, results, and systems into compelling commercial narratives
- Confidently qualify and disqualify opportunities to protect quality and margins
Strategic Deal Structuring
- Shift the agency from one-off custom work to scalable retainer models
- Own negotiation frameworks and commercial discipline
- Make clear decisions on when to say no to misaligned opportunities
