- Design and develop sheet metal components, complex assemblies, and fabrication details using advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) suited for sheet metal processes.
- Execute engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and select ferrous/non-ferrous materials to balance performance, cost, and manufacturability for metal sheet applications.
- Prepare comprehensive 2D engineering drawings featuring GD&T, flat patterns, and manufacturing instructions, fully compliant with international sheet metal design standards.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and suppliers to transform concepts into functional, mass-producible metal products.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA), and virtual prototyping critical for sheet metal product validation.
- Critically analyze existing sheet metal designs to propose enhancements for manufacturability, process efficiency, strength, and cost reduction.
- Provide technical support throughout tooling, press brake setup, laser cutting, stamping, bending, welding, and assembly operations, optimizing for production speed and accuracy.
- Ensure all designs meet ISO/ASTM/ASME standards, customer print specifications, and local factory safety requirements.
- Improve and document product BOMs, revision controls, and process routings in the ERP/MES system.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to drawings, fit, or assembly, delivering prompt and practical solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a strong focus on metal sheet design and manufacturing processes.2-3 years of proven mechanical design experience in a metal sheet factory, fabrication shop, or heavy manufacturing facility.Demonstrated expertise with CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks Sheet Metal, AutoCAD Mechanical, etc.) and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).Deep knowledge of industrial sheet metal manufacturing operations, including progressive dies, CNC punching, bending, welding, and finishing.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, especially with regard to formability, structural integrity, and surface finish.Strong communication skills with a proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and interface with shop floor personnel, suppliers, and customers.
