Key Responsibilities

1. Freight & Transportation Management

  • Oversee and coordinate ocean, air, and land freight for import and export operations.
  • Optimize container utilization, freight consolidation, and cost-effective shipping strategies.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between carriers, warehouses, and supply chain teams for timely deliveries.
  • Maintain real-time visibility on shipment status, delays, and transit issues.

2. Strong Industry Relationships & Negotiations

  • Leverage existing strong relationships with global shipping lines, freight forwarders, NVOCCs, and air cargo operators to secure competitive freight rates and priority shipments.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts, spot rates, and service agreements with transport providers.
  • Work closely with customs brokers, clearing agents, and local authorities to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Stay updated with market trends, freight index movements, and industry best practices.

3. Customs & Regulatory Compliance

  • Oversee import/export documentation, customs clearance, and duty structures for multiple geographies.
  • Ensure compliance with INCOTERMS, international shipping laws, and customs regulations.
  • Monitor evolving trade policies, FTAs, and tax implications to minimize risks and optimize costs.

4. Freight Cost & Risk Optimization

  • Develop and implement cost-saving strategies to enhance freight efficiency.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate logistics risks, disruptions, and bottlenecks.
  • Monitor freight rate fluctuations, fuel surcharges, and geopolitical factors affecting transport costs.

5. Logistics Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with procurement, supply chain, and warehouse teams to align freight movements with operational demands.
  • Establish streamlined communication channels with shipping partners, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide periodic reports and insights on freight cost trends, shipment performance, and contract effectiveness.

6. Process Improvement & Technology Integration

  • Utilize ERP, TMS, and freight management systems to enhance visibility and tracking.
  • Implement data-driven logistics solutions for better planning and real-time monitoring.
  • Continuously explore and adopt new strategies to optimize freight operations and reduce transit delays.

What We Are Looking ForBachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.7+ years of experience in freight management, preferably within the paper industry or a multinational logistics/trading environment.Strong knowledge of ocean freight, air freight, multimodal transport, and customs regulations.Well-connected within the shipping and freight industry—must have strong ties with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and air cargo operators.Proven track record in negotiating shipping contracts and optimizing freight costs.Proficiency in ERP, TMS, and logistics tracking systems (SAP, Oracle, CargoWise, etc.).Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and ability to work under pressure.Preferred CertificationsCertified International Freight Forwarder (CIFF)Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) – APICS
