Job Position: Fleet & Maintenance Manager Work Location: Benghazi - Libya
Seeking a hands-on Fleet & Maintenance Manager to lead our equipment workshop and ensure maximum fleet availability. You'll own the full asset lifecycle and lead a team of technicians to support our critical projects.
Key Responsibilities:Directly manage and oversee the daily operations of the central equipment workshop. Schedule and allocate work orders to mechanics and teams, prioritizing based on project criticality and urgency. Ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Perform hands-on diagnosis and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy equipment, providing guidance to the team. Enforce a strict 5S methodology and housekeeping standard within the workshop and yard areas. Develop, implement, and continuously improve the comprehensive Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs. Analyze equipment downtime data and failure trends to implement root cause analysis and corrective actions. Manage the fleet budget, controlling costs related to labor, parts inventory, repairs, and fuel. Lead, mentor, and motivate a large team of mechanics, technicians, foremen, and parts storekeepers. Conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety. Manage the parts inventory, implementing efficient stocking levels to minimize downtime while avoiding excess capital tie-up.
Qualifications & Experience (Mandatory):Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.15+ years of progressive experience in maintaining and managing heavy construction equipment. Expert-level technical knowledge of heavy equipment systems (CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, etc.) – engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Proven track record in developing and executing preventive maintenance programs that significantly increase fleet availability. High proficiency in using ERP systems for maintenance and workshop management. Fluency in English (both written and verbal) is essential. Previous working experience in the GCC region or similar Middle Eastern markets is highly preferred.
