Job summary:We are seeking a highly experienced Section Manager – Technical Support with strong expertise in Electrical Power Substations. The successful candidate will lead the technical support section and act as a technical authority for design review, modifications, troubleshooting, condition assessment, and operational excellence across MV, HV, and EHV substations. This role requires proven experience in switchgears, transformers, capacitor banks, shunt reactors, SVC systems, and protection & control systems, ensuring high reliability, safe operations, and continuous improvement of substation asset performance.
1) Technical Leadership & Governance Lead the Technical Support section and provide technical direction across substation engineering and maintenance activities. Establish technical governance for design reviews, change management, and engineering compliance across MV/HV/EHV substations. Define and enforce engineering standards, technical practices, and documentation requirements.2) Design Review & Modification Support Support, review, and validate electrical system designs, calculations, equipment selection, and modifications. Ensure design changes comply with project/utility requirements, safety standards, and operational constraints. Provide technical input for upgrades, modernization, and system optimization initiatives.3) Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis Lead and oversee fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major failures and recurring operational issues. Review event reports, protection operation records, and failure data to drive corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate with OEMs and contractors to ensure effective resolution and knowledge transfer.4) Condition Assessment & Asset Performance Conduct and supervise technical evaluation and condition assessment of substation equipment (MV to EHV). Recommend and justify repair, refurbishment, replacement, or upgrade decisions based on risk, reliability, and lifecycle considerations. Support asset health indexing and reliability improvement plans.5) Operations & Maintenance Strategy Develop, review, and optimize operation and maintenance plans, procedures, and schedules for MV/HV/EHV substations. Ensure maintenance strategies align with reliability, safety, and availability targets. Support planning for shutdowns/outages and critical maintenance interventions. Qualifications Master’s degree in electrical engineering (required). PhD in Electrical Engineering (preferred). Minimum 20 years relevant experience in MV/HV/EHV substations.
