- Goods Classification & Data Management:
- Classify goods and shipments based on their type, size, and specifications according to relevant customs tariffs (potentially including the Harmonized System - HS).
- Accurately record and translate shipment and goods data required for customs clearance into English.
- Prepare detailed lists of goods according to specified customs item requirements.
- Translate and classify customs transactions, ensuring accurate interpretation of documentation.
- Enter classified transactions and shipment data into the customs management system
- Codify all shipments according to internal and regulatory requirements.
- Shipment Tracking & Coordination:
- Track shipments diligently to determine the expected arrival time and proactively address potential delays.
- Monitor the status of shipments after submission to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
- Coordinate with other team members to finalize and send the customs declaration to the customer.
- Document Handling & Verification:
- Accurately translate various international trade documents, including bills of lading, certificates of origin, and commercial invoices.
- Verify and review all shipment documents for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Verify prior notification to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority as required.
- Regulatory Compliance & Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., operations, documentation) to ensure all products comply with relevant import and export regulations, including SFDA requirements for applicable goods.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and industry standards, particularly those relevant to Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to incorrect system codes or inaccurate translations that may impede customs clearance.
- Database Operation & Reporting:
- Operate the database efficiently by accurately entering customer items and shipment details into the software.
- Prepare comprehensive daily shipment data reports based on specified items for internal review and analysis.
- Consult with the line manager to clarify any inquiries or obtain additional data for reporting purposes.
- Tariff Application & Communication:
- Compile and organize lists of goods for tariff assessment.
- Determine applicable customs tariffs according to specified rates and regulations.
- Communicate tariff information and requirements effectively to customs clearance officers and tariff collectors.
- Operational Adherence & Support:
- Strictly adhere to all procedural manuals, company policies, and procedures governing customs clearance operations.
- Provide proactive support to other departments within the organization as needed.
- Undertake other miscellaneous operational tasks as assigned to ensure smooth workflow.
- Perform any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the line manager.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Translation, or a related discipline.Experience: 5 years of experience in customs clearance operations, with a strong focus on data entry, document processing, and goods classification. Experience dealing with Saudi Arabian import regulations, particularly SFDA, is highly advantageous.Language Proficiency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English, with strong translation abilities.Technical Skills: Proficient in using computer systems and databases, including experience with customs management software. Strong data entry skills are essential.Knowledge of Customs Procedures: Solid understanding of customs regulations, import/export procedures, and potentially familiarity with the Harmonized System (HS) codes.Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, document review, and translation.Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or issues related to data, documentation, and classification.
