AtkinsRealis is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer-Wet utilities for our Middle east delivery team to be based in Cairo, Egypt. As a Principal Engineer, would play a pivotal role in the leading the design and delivery of various projects to a high-quality and ensures solid collaboration between LPO and GTC; would be involved on a multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers providing a professional design service to our clients/Lead Project Offices (LPOs);

Responsibilities

  • Leads the design process of wet utilities- Gravity and Pressure networks. Check and review Concept, Preliminary, Detailed design, related calculations specification and documentation.
  • Check and Review hydraulic models-Gravity and Pressure networks; Design Reports
  • Check and review 3D models (Civil 3d /Revit)/ drawing, components and interface between design and BIM software’s.
  • Multi Discipline coordination’s and coordination’s with LPOs and Clients.
  • Conversant in using CDE- ProjectWise, BIM 360, MS teams, SharePoint sites etc.
  • Contribute in Utility Clash analysis and Clash resolution
  • Provide technical guidance within design teams with minimal external guidance.
  • Preparing budget, resourcing and delivering to the budget and agreed time frame.
  • Takes responsibility for writing effective sections of Technical Design reports/Technical Notes.
  • Mentoring the team for skill development and enhancement for the team working on the projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective project execution.
  • Liaise with authorities and other stakeholders to obtain design approval at all stages of design development.
  • Stay informed about advancements in wet utility systems and incorporate best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during the construction, commissioning, and operation phases of the infrastructure projects.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.
  • Apply AtkinsRéalis Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSE) standards and Business Management System (BMS).
  • Embrace digital engineering and promoting innovative engineering design solutions.
  • Develop sustainable solutions and try for carbon low designs working towards NetZero.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering from a reputed institute
  • A Minimum of 18 years of experience in the Water & Wastewater Industry.
  • Wet utilities design- Storm water , Wastewater, Potable water and TSE for UK, Middle East and other regions.
  • Proven experience of various software’s like Microdrainage, CivilStorm, Sewergems/Watergems etc. Working knowledge of BIM platforms like Civil3D, Microstation and/or Open Roads/ Inroads/ MX Road, Revit. Navisworks etc.
  • Experience in International Standards and Middle East Standards.
  • Experience in implementing quality standards and procedures.
  • Experience of leading and delivering major Infrastructure projects at Master plan, Concept and Detailed Design stages.
  • Clear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team.
  • Good written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Positive Attitude and eagerness to learn and use new water related design software’s, tools and processes for automation and digital efficiency as per the project and business requirement.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, seniors, team members and clients.
  • A team player and work in collaboration.
  • Chartered member or working towards chartership (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent).
