The Project Director holds overall executive accountability for the planning, execution, financial performance, and completion of large-scale construction projects or portfolios. This role leads Project Managers, internal and external partners to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards. Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Leadership & Governance Define project objectives, delivery frameworks, and execution strategies aligned with corporate goals. Direct and mentor Project Managers, and site leadership across multiple jobsites. Serve as the primary escalation point for critical operational, contractual, and commercial disputes. 2. Commercial & Financial Management Oversee multi-million dollar capital budgets, cash flow projections, and monthly financial reporting. Approve baseline budgets, major purchase orders, subcontract awards, and high-value variation orders. Drive commercial profitability, manage profit margins, and minimize financial exposure throughout the project lifecycle.3. Stakeholder & Client Relations Act as the lead executive representative with clients, government authorities, joint venture partners, and consultants. Maintain strong client relationships to protect business reputation and secure repeat pipeline opportunities. Lead high-level stakeholder reviews, steering committee meetings, and progress presentations. 4. Project Delivery & Operational Excellence Monitor baseline master schedules to ensure critical milestones and delivery dates are achieved. Enforce quality management systems (QMS) and ensure strict compliance with engineering specifications and local building codes. Champion site Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) standards across all project operations.5. Risk Management & Contract Administration Conduct risk assessments to identify technical, commercial, and operational bottlenecks, establishing mitigation protocols. Oversee contract management and manage main contract change orders and claims processes. Ensure all statutory approvals, permits, and legal documentation are secured prior to and during construction phases. Required Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s degree (MSc/MBA) is preferred. Experience: Minimum 20+ years of progressive construction experience, with at least 5–7 years in a Project Director or Senior Project Manager capacity overseeing mega-projects or multi-project portfolios. Certifications: PMP is preferred. Core Competencies & Skills Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction methodologies, contracts, cost control, and project scheduling. Leadership & Strategy: Proven ability to direct large, multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams and subcontractors. Negotiation & Commercial Acumen: Skilled in high-stakes commercial negotiations, conflict resolution, and claims settlement.
