An international technology startup is building its core development team in Egypt for the development and launch of a new-generation digital platform.

We are seeking an experienced AI / Machine Learning Engineer who can design, build, deploy and continuously improve production-grade AI systems. The successful candidate will work closely with European management and the wider engineering team to develop the platform’s core AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement AI and machine learning solutions for a scalable digital platform
• Develop applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI and Natural Language Processing
• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, embedding systems, semantic search and vector database integrations
• Integrate external and internal AI APIs into production applications
• Develop evaluation, testing and monitoring processes for AI outputs
• Optimize AI systems for accuracy, latency, reliability, security and operating cost
• Build and maintain data processing, indexing and retrieval pipelines
• Collaborate with backend, frontend, mobile, cloud and product teams
• Document technical decisions, architectures and development processes
• Contribute to engineering standards, code reviews and continuous product improvement

Requirements

• 4–7 years of professional experience in AI, Machine Learning or production software engineering

• Strong proficiency in Python and experience writing clean, tested and maintainable production code

• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, prompt engineering and AI APIs

• Practical experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems

• Experience with embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, information retrieval and reranking

• Strong knowledge of Natural Language Processing; experience with multilingual systems is considered an advantage

• Experience deploying, evaluating and monitoring AI or machine learning systems in production

• Familiarity with REST APIs, PostgreSQL, data pipelines and backend service integration

• Experience with Docker and at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform

• Understanding of AI security, data privacy, access control and responsible handling of sensitive information

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, document decisions and meet deadlines

• Good command of written and spoken English

• Candidates must be based in Egypt or available to work as part of our Egypt development team

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with MLOps, model evaluation, observability, caching and cost optimization

• Experience developing scalable SaaS platforms or startup products

• Knowledge of PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex or similar frameworks

• Previous experience collaborating with international or distributed engineering teams
