Job description

We are seeking a visionary and decisive Director of Engineering to lead our engineering operations in Cairo, Egypt. As a key member of our leadership team, you will oversee all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of our facilities while driving innovation and continuous improvement. Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Oversee all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and building infrastructure systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs to maximize facility efficiency and minimize downtime
• Ensure full compliance with Egyptian building codes, local safety regulations, and environmental standards specific to Cairo operations
• Develop, manage, and optimize annual engineering budgets and capital expenditure plans with analytical rigor
• Implement and monitor energy management systems and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative technical solutions that enhance organizational performance
• Manage strategic relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities in the Cairo region
• Lead engineering aspects of renovation projects, new installations, and facility upgrades from conception through completion
• Analyze technical data, performance metrics, and operational trends to prepare comprehensive reports for senior management
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous organizational improvement
• Ensure a safety-first approach across all engineering operations and maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in engineering operations and facility management
• At least 5 years of proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and operations
• Strong expertise in MEP systems, fire safety regulations, and building infrastructure standards
• In-depth knowledge of Egyptian building codes, local regulations, and compliance requirements in Cairo
• Demonstrated track record in successfully managing large-scale engineering projects and diverse teams
• Proficiency in project management software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
• Excellent budgeting, financial management, and cost optimization abilities
• Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
• Experience developing and implementing sustainability initiatives and energy management systems
• Hands-on, organized, and detail-oriented approach to operations with a strong safety focus
• Good command of English, both written and spoken
• Resilience and adaptability in managing complex technical challenges and organizational change
• Commitment to inclusive practices and collaborative problem-solving
• Service-minded, results-oriented, well-organized, and able to work effectively with hotel management, department heads, contractors, and local authorities
